Surprise Attitude and Poor Service
by Teacher32 at Citysearch
It’s not often that you can get service with an attitude and that’s exactly what I got last Saturday night at Mark Riches New York Pizza.
You see, it was Saturday night when we started talking about what to do for dinner and where to go. Many restaurants surfaced during the conversation, but were quickly dismissed. After a short time the discussion came back to Pizza and to one of the dismissed pizza’s; Mark Riches. For whatever reason, our experience with the restaurant has been mixed in areas of prompt service or food quality. Anyway, it was getting late, Marc Riches was right down the street so we decided to give it one more try.
When we arrived, they were not busy and we were able to be seated immediately. A few different people came up to the table quite quickly and offered to take our drink order. Soon thereafter, we were asked for our main course selections, which made me encouraged with the change in direction from the last time we were here!
Our order was all Pizza. An extra large pepperoni pizza for the kids and my wife, and a personal pan sausage and onion pizza for me. Since we ordered food from the same kitchen, our expectations were that the timing of the food order would not be a problem.
Approximately 15 to 20 minutes after our order was placed, things started to fall apart. First, as the waitress delivered our extra large pepperoni pizza, she commented that the small pizza would have to be re-made. There was an error made in the kitchen and the Sausage and onion pizza came out as a sausage and olive pizza. My initial reaction was, “are you kidding me? Here we go again….”
You may have guessed that in the time it takes to re-make a pizza, my wife and the kids totally consumed the extra large pizza. So the result of the error is that our family did not get to eat together. You see this is the most important point since, this is why we were careful in the beginning to order from the same kitchen.
When I approached the Manager/Owner of the restaurant, she dismissed the whole situation and stated that all I can do is re-make your pizza. She seemed put-out and frustrated, like I may have interrupted her evening. I personally stated that “is that all you are going to do?” You do realize that you ruined our evening out creating unwarranted frustration and anxiety. In her own cocky and cavalier way, she stated then I’ll take the mini pizza off the bill.
So 10 minutes later, when the pizza had finally arrived, I had enough of this place and this attitude. We had the recently delivered pizza put in a to-go box and we left.
The bill was just over $30 and we paid it to the penny. There was nothing extra left for a tip nor any compliments paid to the kitchen. Instead, a good customer, with many connections in Las Vegas
had experienced the surprise of their life; bad Service and an owner who could care less about the customer. We walked out of the restaurant leaving a Budweiser ¾ full on the table. In my opinion, that says it all!
- Pros: None
- Cons: The customer is NOT #1
worst pizza I've ever had
by RJhutch at Citysearch
The pizza here is the worst pizza I've ever had and theres some tough competition in that category, it was overpriced and tasted worse than a red baron pizza from the grocery store. My kids and their friends would not eat it. I tried one slice and it was total rubbish!!! I believe most of these reviews are written by the owners or friends, This is a true review.
great pizza

They have some of the best pizza in town. I haven't had any other entrees, but my family has and they all love it too.

being a chicago native i've always leaned towards there pizza and to this day i still remain a chicago fan, but i got to tell you that the pizza here is pretty good... the service was good and the price is right and the people are friendly.. i've actually had a great conversation with the staff and they are all wonderful... and now with these days it's all about service... but, with there pizza... oh they are a winner
- Pros: great location, wonderful staff, price
- Cons: parking can suck
Love It!

I found Mark Rich's pizza to be extremely good. It is actually the only place where I can eat a plain cheese pizza. Not only do they have great pizza but I also love their breaded mushrooms with marinara. Not to mention their marinara has actual chunks of tomato in it (YUM). They always have great deals for people like us who order for the whole building. No other pizza place I have been to in Las Vegas has been able to compare.
- Pros: Great Food, Good Service, Good Prices
- Cons: Limited Parking, Long Wait (worth it!), Limited Seating
NOT fast-food pizza

Unlike places that rush the food out to you (and customers that want it NOW), Mark Rich's New York Pizza cooks everything only after it's ordered, and tell you that up front. Do you want it good or do you want it now?. The Pizza is hand tossed like I grew up with back east , not this "chain pizzeria" junk that is pressed. They make a 24" pie for about $11 (wish they made a 36" like I grew up with), and their eggplant parmesian sub is outstanding! Their sauce ISN"T the sugar filled stuff in a bottle, it's the real deal. My teenagers swore by Dominoes and Pizza Hut till I dragged them to Mark Rich's, now it's the only place they'll eat pizza...and they don't mind waiting! They've even dragged quite a few of their high school friends down there, and they now have been converted also!
- Pros: large menu, takeout/delivery, inexpensive
- Cons: limited seating, crowded at lunch
Great place to eat!

The food was wonderful and the service was fast and friendly. Our family has made Mark Rich's our preferred pizza place. Very comfortable atmosphere and the owner was super friendly even came to our table and spoke to our kids.
- Pros: great food, friendly service, affordable
- Cons: parking is crowded, needs more tables
Worst Pizza ever!

This is the absolute worst pizza I have ever had. The crust is undercooked and the sauce is horrible. The service is even worse than the pizza - slow and the owner is rude to the customers.
