I just visited Dr. Philander for a severe pain in my hip. I could not walk more than 15 yards or stand more than 2 minutes without pain shooting down my leg. I found Dr Philander to be extremely thorough, compassionate and gentle. He prescribed muscle relaxers and ibuprophen and told me I could either start physical therapy immediatly or wait to see if the muscle relaxers do their trick. After this experience, I would question the validity of the other (extremely poor) review. I would not have any qualms about returning to Dr. Philander.

Dr. Philander is ok when he is not swamped. He is busy with Cirque du Soleil performers a lot and sees a lot of stage techs also. Then normal patients, even rude one's who comment about others reviews like they are all knowing and right (ahem). So he has a ton on his mind I'm sure.
Pros: Office staff is really nice
Cons: Parking is bad because it's at Mountain View hospital
