The food was good and I enjoyed the gentle, dark, yet colorful ambience for a relaxing lunch/dinner. I had a chicken patty on noodles with capers in a lemon-olive oil sauce. It was the perfect portion, flavorful, and deliscious and I normally don't even like lemon flavored foods. My husband enjoyed his dish, too. I would recommend it.

I was staying in Mandalay Bay last week so I went there with my girlfriend for dinner. We liked the atmosphere in the restaurant but we were both very disappointed with the food. I ordered this shrimp pasta dish and the quality reminded me of eating at Chilli's or Bennigan's. My girlfriend didn't like her food either. One thing I should mention is that the service was really good. I guess if you're stuck in a Casino and don't feel like walking too far for food, check this place out.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! July 2006 My 40th birthday should have been at blast, but the House of Blues in the Mandalay Hotel in Las Vegas, managed to destroy it. First off, they knew a party of 6 would be arriving (called a week ahead) and tried to stick all 6 of us in a booth. Ridiculous! So after much discussion and waiting, they seated us at a table. We also waited a long time before the waitress came and took our orders for drinks, appetizers, and then dinner. They were not very busy either. Their version of a margarita also was not good; it had an odd taste and was bitter. The second traditional margarita tasted better. My husband and I had the catfish fish and chips after the waitress highly recommend it, Blah. It was not good and I only ate one with a lot of tarter sauce. The chocolate cake with chocolate frosting that arrived with a birthday candle was the only food that was good and moist. The unquie folk art is what kept our attention occupied between the long waits of the appetizers, drinks, and dinner. Not friendly either. Boo! 2 thumbs down times 6 people. After dinner, we went to the nightclub side to see the Prince Tribute band "Purple Reign", who was awesome. As a surprise my friend reserved a table for $150, which was placed in the back of the dance floor directly in front of the band's audio mixer. My friend was clearly upset. People seated at the tables in the front near the band had NO reservations, we found out. The manager did nothing to correct the situation except to offer a measly $25 off the price. The gratuity for the reserved table was included in the reserved table. HOB tacked on a hefty gratuity to my bar tab and without my approval, added my other friend's tabs. It was a mess that never was fixed. Management and security rudely pushed us out at closing. We dropped over $700 here that night. House of Blues, you, truly are in the BLUES!

Pros: Unique artwork, "Purple Reign" band

Cons: Lousy food, terrible service, Poor communication

'The Spazmatics' on Friday night play the sounds of the 80s and what a blast from the past! We had a great time dancing with other fun people. Not necessarily the place to go if you're looking to 'hook up' but for people just out there to dance and have fun, definitely a good choice! The drinks are inexpensive and the atmosphere relaxed. We liked it so much we went back on Saturday to see the deliciously goofy 'Boogie Knights'. There is an older crowd on Saturday nights but we still had a great time dancing the night away. Our only regret was not getting tickets for Justin Timberlake's show downstairs in the music hall ahead of time. That would have made our trip just perfect. Anyway, we also ate at the HOB restaurant and the food was unique and inexpensive. They had a live band playing during dinner as well. The drinks are inexpensive and varied... overall, a fun place to be.

I went here with high expectations, and was extremely let down. After waiting 30 minutes to get a seat when the resturant was about half full, I was already upset, but I tried to keep an open mind. To my suprise I was let down again. Expensive food and drinks were the least of the problems. I ordered a bowl of soup to eat.....after 45 minutes of waiting they came out and asked how my food (which I never recieved) tasted. I explained that I never recieved it and they got upset and told me that I was wrong b/c the cook said that he sent it out. 10 minutes later I recieved a half full cold bowl of $6 soup, and that was the highlight of the experience. If that's is your idea of a good time then by all means go there, you will have a blast.

Cons: , Rude wait staff, $6 cold bowl of soup

If you can get into the HOB Foundation Room, go! This is a separate area at the very top of Mandalay Bay. A separate elevator with only one destination takes you there. Very cool, though we girls wondered if we were going to walk into a scene from "Eyes Wide Shut." Anyway, the atmosphere is very cool, with comfy sofas, dark wood, fireplace, and an eclectic mix of music -- Marvin Gay, 80's pop, reggae. It's like a grown-up house party with a bar. We got in on a Thurs. night w/o paying; must have been a special night or b/c we were a group of girls. Highly recommended, though there seemed to be a lot of older men but young women. There are also some back rooms with a rather odd vibe.

Pros: eclectic music, sophisticated & cozy, great view

I went on 80's night which I thought was a lot of fun. A lot of people just lookin to have a good time and hear some different music besides techno. Drinks not as expensive as other bars. I thought the club was very entertaining and fun.. A good place to start your night!

Pros: Cheaper drinks, Fun music and DJ, Friendly

While the House of Blues seemed like a good place to go. It really wasn't. I went on a Friday when it was the 80's Flashback night. It wasn't that crowed, which is some times a good thing. But the only people that were there looked liked up tight computer dorks. A bunch of Bill Gates look a likes that follow woman around and torment them! Maybe if the atmopspere wasn't like that it would have been a nice club, because they entertainment they have (so I've heard) and the set up is really nice.

Most clubs aren't going on sundays even if its a long weekend. Go to HOB, you'll wait in line but it's crowded and fun. Plays everything from trance, hiphop, salsa, 80's, something for everyone. $20 to get in, standard price nowadays. Pretty good looking crowd. Get there early!

Pros: good sunday nite, good dancers

Cons: small dance floor, long line
