My Thai food joint by jayzao E. at InsiderPages

Before I moved permanently to Las Vegas (15 years ago)
The first restaurant I went to was King and I on Trop.
There was a flier on our door at the back rooms at Imperial palace so we ventured out to try the food.
Chris Budajam (the owner) greeted us and his mom prepared our native Thai meals. I was never a fan of Thai thinking it was like Chinese (Americanized) food.
Well that experience has led to a long relationship of weekly visits. Their specials and food are truly wonderful and made to order.
I have taken many guests to lunch and addicted them as well.
And as an added bonus Chris and Nikki also keep a stash of beautiful Chablis, Gerwutz, and other great white wines that pair fantastically with the spicy Thai flavor.
If you eat in one new place this month make it King and I.
Say hi to Chris and Nikki for me!

I was taken to this restaurant by a co-worker that swore by the place. I am not a big thai food eater, so I went reluctantly.
I was pleasantly surprised and the quality of the food and the quaintness of the restaurant. The prices surprised me too! They had great lunch specials and the owner was really nice, he came by to say hello to all of us.
What a great restaurant! I willl surely eat there again.

The pad thai disappointed me and so did the curry. I would definitely recommend to try the chicken satay, duck and coconut soup.
Casual strip-mall eatery offers tasty Thai standards in a variety of spice levels.

In Short
Ensconced in a strip mall, this modest little gem leaves a noble mark on those who happen to stumble upon it. While it looks like a takeout only restaurant, it is tastefully decorated, quiet, and just the place for a casual dinner outing. The dishes, including Singapore noodles and pad thai, are served on the spicy side, so you are asked to indicate your level of comfort from "Coward" to "Native Thai."

We have been going there for years and the food is as good as it gets. The owner runs the place and the family serves you and a family member is the cook.
PROS: Great everything
CONS: none

This is my favorite Thai/Chinese restaurant. They have large portions and great prices. They are hidden in a little shopping center on Tropicana and Maryland Parkway. They have wonderful Pad Thai and the best egg foo young I have ever had! My husband really likes the sweet and sour pork.
PROS: Large portions/good prices
CONS: None!

If you visit Vegas often or live here you would know about the King and I. When you walk in you are treated like family everyone greets your arrival and makes the entire lunch or dinning experience very relaxed and not rushed. The food served is an excellent value and if you have a special request all you have to do is ask and if possible they will prepare your request. The resturant interior is unique you feel you have entered a hidden dinning experience from the walls which looks like the resturant was carved into a rock mountain to the Thai artwork. Even the wine choices are a delite if it a must place to dine and have your pallet pleased.
- Pros: outstanding food, warm friendly staff, great value
- Cons: location

The food was less than impressive when it comes to authentic Thai food. I've definitely had better. Do not get the mint chicken.. my boyfriend said it was super bland... he had to get his money back. I regret going here.. Maybe the other courses were better but the Mint Chicken and the Panang was less than average.
- Pros: Ambiance

I was taken here by a local "in the know" while visiting from out of town- the food was delicious and a great value. The portions were large. Beware- the food can be pretty spicy- we ordered a moderate heat level and still found that our tongues were burning. Nothing fancy but I will return whenever in town.
- Pros: value, delicious food, good service
