We had a great experience at the Monte Carolo recently. We arrived early in the day (around noon) and to our surpise our room was ready. Nice size bedroom and bath. The room was very clean. We had breakfast in their cafe each day. It was great - homemade cornbeef hash and eggs benedict. The hotel is in a great location right on the strip. We will stay there again on our next visit to Vegas.

My husband planned a weekend getaway to Vegas for my birthday. He chose the Monte Carlo because it was one of the better priced rooms and was located on the strip. We arrived at the hotel to be greeted by an hour long wait to check in. After finally checking in we opened the door to our room to find a smelly small room with paper thin walls. After unpacking we headed down to the casino, after losing tons of money and not getting any free cocktails we decided to go to Diablos to eat. It was not anything like the brochure in our room had us picturing it. The food was very good but extremely over priced especially on the alcohal at 6 draft beers for $50. Our first night in our room, the walls were so thin you could hear everything. The bed was realativly comfortable except I awoke itching several times through the night. I thought I was allergic to the laundry soap they had used to wash the sheets. After arriving home we discovered small insects in our suitcase. After having a exterminator examine them we discovered they were bedbugs. $700 more dollars to the exterminator to inspect and spray to help ( i say help because they don't guarentee) make sure they didn't breed and infest our house. I called the hotel to report this and was transferred from person to person until finally being told that a manager was unavailable and he would call me back. It's been 2 days and guess what. Yep no call. Inspect your bed before you sleep or you may awake to insects crawling and biting. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone pay the extra money to stay in a clean hotel.
Pros: It's on the strip
Cons: You will need an exterminator after you leave. Dirty rooms, thin walls

Please do not waste your time and go see this clown...levitating scantily clad women and cheesy smoke machines is absolutely ridiculous .When a magician uses an 89 corvette is his show its a sign..do yourself a favor and go sit by the pool!!!
Pros: nice hotel
Cons: LANCE BURTON

I did not stay at this hotel, I actually stayed next door at the New York New York. But I did play at the casino in Monte Carlo, more specifically the poker room. I found the environment of the poker room to be very friendly and not pretentious in the slightest, both the players and the casino staff. The poker room "host" (the guy running the room) was very nice in explaining the different games they had going on. They probably have other games, but I played in a $50 no limit texas holdem tournament, which they run with only 8 to 10 people, so the game doesn't last forever. They also have a $1/$2 no limit texas holdem game for buyin of $100 min and $200 max, where you can join and leave the game at any time. The waitress did a good job of keeping our drinks coming, although there was one lull where she noticeably disappeared for a while. All in all, this was a friendly, non-intimidating, unpretentious environment. This is in contrast to the poker room at either Bellagio or Caesar's, I wish I could remember which one it was. But at that poker room, the poker host was very pretentious. We had asked him what kind of games they had running, buy in amounts, blind levels, etc., and his response back to us was filled with attitude and pretentiousness. And very cryptic. He definitely had an attitude. And seeing as how we don't play poker in Vegas EVERY SINGLE DAY we weren't quite sure of what was going on, hence, our questions. We do play in quite a few home cash games so it's not like we don't know how to play the game. We just didn't know what the different games were in that particular casino. Snobs. But anyways, I guess what I was getting at was that the poker room at Monte Carlo was very unpretentious and very welcoming, in contrast.
Pros: friendly and welcoming poker room w/o attitude

Desperately needing some updating. The service was not very good for the most part and there wasn't a great deal to do there. Everything closed surprisingly early. One bartender explained to me it was just too slow in the middle of the week. Wonder why...
Pros: Location
Cons: Drab

this is a fantastic hotel. not as austere as everywhere else, but it feels comfortable, kinda like home (if your home is a huge casino). staff is friendly, slots seem looser here than elsewhere on the strip.

For a break from the rest of the Strip casinos, try the Monte Carlo. It is a bit older, a bit less luxurious, but every bit as fun. The brewpub/bar in the back is a great place to have fun, the casino has lower limits, and overall, this is what you should get out of Vegas!

This is the PERFECT location to stay on the strip.....loved the location...didn't enjoy the watered down drinks you get served in the casino while gambling, but the rooms are nice and comfortable. Very quite hotel. Haven't tried any restaurants as of yet....not a very busy casino.
Pros: value and location

The beds are really comfortable and the bathroom is huge and luxurious. The location is ideal, being in the middle of the strip. But, it is still affordable.
