New York, New York Casino is deteriorating rapidly and no where inside its massive carcass is this more evident than at its flagship restaurant "Gallagher's Steakhouse". After prompt seating the "service" was non existent. After 20 minutes of futile attempts to even be acknowledged by our waiter we left promptly, notifying an assistant manager who feigned interest for about 30 seconds, doing absolutely nothing to explain or rectify the problem. Steer (pardon the pun) way clear of this East-coast transplant.

Pros: Easy to get a table (Now I know why) None others.

Cons: Service, Table Configuration, Management, Location

Looked good, seated quickly without a reservation (turns out there is a reason for that) but the tables are poorly arranged making for seating more suitable to a greasy spoon than a fine dining establishment. Prices are high but they make that clear by posting the menu outside. The prices are so high that it is clearthe restaurant wants to be compared to the finest restaurants. Waiter was insulting but I let that slide as I really wanted to have a good time, but he then served the lamb raw (not undercooked but cold and raw) and the salmon over cooked (which I actually like but not acceptable). He then insulted us when I called him over. Before I said anything he said "Is the lamb a little undercooked for you" (understand that it was clearly raw). Insults continued but damn I wanted a nice evening so tried to make the best of it. All insults were done with a smile. No apology for the poor food and at one point the waiter suggested we would still have to pay for the lamb. We did end up paying for what we had eaten. Not all the staff was as bad although the bar tender was rather short with me when I asked a question. To make it clear we were dressed OK (I didn't have my tux on but neither did anyone else) and were polite, too polite actually, had not been drinking and are naturally a quiet couple. This is a low class place that laughs at tourists. No self respecting kitchen would serve raw lamb and over cooked salmon. Serious management issues (staff not happy), health issues (serving raw food), Kitchen out of control (two major and obvious errors) and grossly overpriced for the product. I cannot recommend Gallaghers. There are much better options. My name is Jeff Brown and this was the evening of July 17 2007

Pros: Location

Cons: Staff has poor attitude, Kitchen unhealthly

Make reservations, this place fills up. I came here on a Wednesday evening at 5:30 and the place was already three quarters full. I agree with another reviewer who said the shrimp cocktail is absolutely devine. You MUST get this as a starter. I ordered the prime rib cooked rare and it came out perfectly. This place serves dishes a la carte, but the side dishes are large enough to serve three people. Our waiter was nice, although by the time he noticed my wine glass was empty, our meal was pretty much over so it wasn't worth getting another glass at that point. But the "water boy" did a fantastic job in keeping our water glasses constantly filled. Plus he was very unobtrusive so we didn't even notice half the time when he poured us refills. Overall this restaurant was a good experience.

Pros: Great food

Cons: waiter was nice but didn't check back on us often enough

I have been to Las Vegas four times now. I have had steaks at all the top steaks places here, and my wife and I make sure we come here at least once during our trip. The steaks are very good. I like the porterhouse which was cooked just right, as I asked. Wife had seafood which was very good as well. Waiter suggested a bottle of wine, which we enjoyed. Service was good. We had reservations and were seated as soon as we got there. Side dishes as in any other steak houses now a days, a little on the expensive side, but big enough to share. The overall experince here was top notch, good food and service. Will come back again to eat here.

Pros: One look at the meat cooler outside

one of the staples of a steakhouse is shrip cocktail and i have to say , i had the best ever here, it was so good i had to place a second order!! they have really good steaks also, my one complaint is the only dry aged steak on the menue is a ny strip!! and it was fantastic!! but you really should have all your cuts dry aged!(whats better than a dry aged bone in ribeye!!!)

Pros: excellent quality, great service

Cons: only one dry aged cut on menue

We walked in and were seated quickly, because as a couple we look young like early twenties we were not offered a wine list...first mistake. Once I recieved the wine list I looked through it and was not pleased, Not a good selection at all. We both had steaks and they were ok. The al carte menu was fairly over priced. Our server seemed somewhat rude. Luckily the bus boy was friendly. I will not return to dine here.

Pros: bus boy

Cons: wine list, food, service

We stumbled upon Gallagher's when simply wandering around the NYNY casino. I have been to Vegas several times and have a lot of family that lives there, so I don't consider myself the typical tourist. That being said, we have eaten at A LOT of restaurants in town and nothing matches this place! The steaks are excellent, authentic NY style steak, the service was excellent and the menu for non-steak items was even very good. Our friend had the roasted chicken and said it was tender and juicy. The Steaks are pricey, but you pay for quality. The wine list was a little small, but this seems to be a trend in Vegas, which is a liquor town. In a town like Vegas with so much to choose from, Gallagher's delivers great food and service, and a nice reprieve from the casino action.

Pros: Great steak and food, good location, service very attentive

Cons: the tables can be crowded

My husband and I were on vacation in Vegas for his birthday and treated ourselves to a steak dinner at Gallaghers. We had heard that the food was great, but the service was just okay. And with those expectations we actually got just that. We had made reservations and when we showed up we were seated immediately. Our assistant waiter came over quite promptly and served us water, but we waited about 5 minutes before our server even stopped by even to say she would be a few minutes. And when she was asking us about our drinks to start we still hadnt been given the wine menu. We ordered an appetizer and when it arrived my husband didnt have any silverware. I had ordered a salad so I took a break from the appetizer and to my surprise the next thing put in front of me was my steak. The only comment I made to them about my salad is that now that my dinner was served to me, I didnt want my salad to come out. Our server seemed very surprise to hear that it never was given to me. Now the steaks were amazing and cooked perfect, one of the top five steaks we have ever had. Our sides were very good too. Within a 5 minute period of dinner we had 4 managers come over and check on us to make sure everything was okay. By the time dessert came along we were too full but the server did make a mention of my husbands birthday due to the fact that we didnt order dessert. With all of our expectations being met we were not too disappointed, and we would probably go back.

Pros: Food

Cons: Service

We had never heard of Gallagher's, but asked for a steak house while walking through New York, New York. We were surprised to find the very unique looking steakhouse. We were promptly seated and BOY were we thirsty. The waiter filled our water glasses about 1,000 times and never got tired of it. The staff was very friendly, but confused by our Texan behavior. Who knew ordering appetizers for your entree was strange!? You must try the fried calamari, mushrooms and steak! The jumbo shrimp did more than shock us. We're big fans of shrimp and I was curious to see what they'd bring out for $13.99. Boy were we shocked, we received 4 shrimp... but one shrimp was the size of 6 regular shrimp... Was the $13.99 worth it? DEFINATELY!

Pros: great service

Cons: pricey, food comes in portions seperate from entree (potatoes, green beans
