Excellent French Food

Pamplemousse is tucked away in a fringe area of East Sahara near Paradise Road. The room is a flashback to 1950's Las Vegas. The fettucine a la Georges was a winner as were the duck breast and confit. Service is good but less formal than in many fine restaurants. Worth a visit

what in the world...

by bethany6 at Citysearch

wow what a huge dissapointment at what could be a really great restaurant! my husband and i had 8:30 reservations and looking in a half full dining room they made us wait 20 min before we got seated!(i really hate this, all they were trying to do was push us on the bar and press us to buy over priced drinks!!, ) when we where finally seated we still had to wait a good 5 min before anybody even noticed we were there! the food was very good dont get me wrong and prepaired perfectly, but a 45 min wait between apps and dinner? nobody ever filled a water glasses? they even forgot one of our side dishes!! and i had to waive the waiter down to get it!! this was worse service then what you expect at a dennys!! and this is a fine dining $150-200 a head wolfgang puck restaurant!! like i said food was great, but everything else was awful

Terrible neighborhood

by welcometofood at Citysearch

We were hassled IN THE PARKING LOT by a homeless man. After a really pushy conversation while my wife was standing right next to me, I was so agitated I had a hard time enjoying the food. Service was average, nothing exemplary. We mentioned to one of the waiters about the situation outside, and he said he would take care of it. After dinner was over, we came back out, and he was still there.

  • Pros: Good authentic French food
  • Cons: terrible parking, LYING waiters?

Your Review: This field is required.

* Be conversational: Write it as if relaying your experience to a good friend.

* Be specific: Generalities like "lazy service" or "tasty pizza" leave people wanting more detail.

* Be yourself: If you're an expert on burgers, let us know. If this is your first-time massage, say so.

* Compare apples to apples: Burger joints shouldn't be held to the same standards as four-star restaurants.

Updates for Pamplemousse le restaurant

by jdgd at Citysearch

Contact: Lee Ann Groff-Daudet or Jean-David Daudet

Las Vegas? favorite French Restaurant ? Pamplemousse le restaurant - now open for lunch Mondays through Fridays

and dinner seven days a week

Founder George LaForge hand picked Jean-David Daudet and his wife Lee Ann to join him in the operation and ownership of the 85 seat restaurant. Daudet hails from the Burgundy region of France, where he owned and operated his own acclaimed restaurant, Le Trou Poinchy, for twelve years before moving to Las Vegas as the Executive Chef for Drai?s at the Barbary Coast.

?What Georges LaForge created in Pamplemousse is a very special place where friends gather and enjoy great food. My goal is to keep all that is wonderful about the restaurant ? the charming candlelit rooms, the waiters reciting the menu, the classic dishes like Duck, the Lamb, and the Veal, the crudite basket, olives and French bread that we deliver to each table.?

Daudet has added a few of his own specialties including a Chilean Sea Bass cooked with soy and ginger, Salmon with Spinach in a Puff Pastry, a Tomato and Goat Cheese Tarte and some new deserts including a Chocolate ?Volcano? Fondant and a Grand Marnier Souffle. ?We?re using a greater amount of organic ingredients, and have expanded the wine list ? particularly the wines from France and California.?

The restaurant is now open for lunch Monday through Friday with a special ?bistro? menu that includes classics like the Croque Monsieur, Moules Frites and Coq au Vin, as well as a variety of salads and soups.

The neighborhood is old being at the beginning of downtown,( buildings from the 60's)...so we were wondering at first but like the website said, what a charm once we entered .

by petronil at Citysearch

The waiters were wonderful, attentive without being intrusive, and everything was explained to us in great detail.

I enjoyed the Escargot for my first time and my husband who does not usually eat seafood, greatly enjoyed the combination appetizer of shrimp & scallops., The restaurant is lovely., cozy and intimate

The wines we had were very nice. All in all, it was a wonderful experience to celebrate the wedding of our friends.

  • Pros: Excellent Food & Service, Romantic Ambiance, non obstrusive attention. 3 star Michelin Chef
  • Cons: Parking quite small ( but getting improvements) old building from the 60's(downtown)

Stuffy, crowded, rude

by edawsons at Citysearch

No Menus - Me and my boyfriend don't speak french. We ordered with "uhm and ahh". We took suggestions from the waiter

Bad Parking - We parked parralel to Sahara. It was a very busy night. Not in the best part of Las Vegas

Stuffy Restaurant - Very small. Wasn't "romantic" like I had originally thought. Not enough room to do anything. Waiters constantly were leaning into our table to let others pass.

Waiters - Perhaps it was a long day for them. Very huffy and impatient. Felt a little ackward like we had done something wrong.

I would never reccomend someone to here.

  • Pros: Not on the Strip
  • Cons: Parking, Ambience, Rude Waiters, No Menus

Country French fare that remains a secret from night to night.

by Contributor at Citysearch

In Short
Pamplemousse has been serving French country fare in a rustic setting to Las Vegans, celebrities and tourists alike for almost 20 years. In true Vegas style, it's a favorite haunt with Strip performers. No printed menu ensures an extended colloquy between waiter and patron as your memory and patience is put to the test. A crudite platter is a mountain of fresh vegetables, pickles, eggs and dipping sauces. Duck, veal and seafood are the specialties.

Best dinner in years

by jakeryan at Citysearch

This was by far the best dining experience my wife & I have had in years. We felt like we were long-time friends of the staff by the time we left. The food was spectacular, plentiful, and quite reasonably priced. On the way there, the cab driver asked us how may times we had been there, to which we answered "none, why?" His reply: "because most people I drive there dine there every trip they take to Vegas" Enough said. You WON'T be disappointed.

  • Pros: reasonable prices, friendly staff, memorable food
