I watched 2 or 3 of the light shows and it is an amazing display. It makes a very pleasant evening - watch a couple of the musical shows, take in a nice buffet, watch another show or two. Much more relaxed than the busy strip atmosphere - more 'down-home'. Stroll through a couple of the stores and pick up some trinkets for those at home. Not a must-do on every trip but a must-do at least once!

..and a great place to get affordable water. It's definitely not for those looking for that ultra-lounge experience, as on the strip. pleanty of eatiereies, coolrelics of vegas' past, and the friggin Golden nugget is there for Pete's sake. Check it out, then continue down fremont to the Beauty Bar for a stiff drink. Hopefully there'll be a cool band out back.

I do. I was little when it disappeared. Fremont Street is neat because of the crafts and performers and shops and excitement. Here you'll find the old Vegas hotels and the Neon Museum. The parking is underground and validated. This IS a big city however. There are no entrance barriers so be prepared to deal with street people, beggars, and travelers of every description.

Pros: metro promenade, grittiness, entertainment value

I thought is was great, can't wait to go back in November, 2003. It's a show you just have to see with your own eyes. Awesome! We will go back again, and again and again. Loved it.

Pros: Great Show!, Good People Watching, Free

Cons: beggers

Imagine a shopping mall type of experience with just about every vice you can think of within a 5 block area. Gambling, drinking, eating, sex...its all right there. If you want a great time for less than half of what it costs on the strip, then pick a hotel downtown and live it up. There are great places to stay like The Four Queens, The Golden Nugget, The Plaza and The Las Vegas Club. Don't forget Binion's Horseshoe either. Oh, yeah, love those shrimp cocktails at the Golden Gate and the Girls of Glitter Gulch! Fremont Street is the place to be for the best time in Vegas

Pros: Gambling, Drinking, Girls

Cons: None

I LIVED IN LAS VEGAS PRE- FREMONT EXPERIENCE AND THE DOWNTOWN HAS NEVER BEEN MORE INVITING. WHEN I VISIT NOW, IT'S NEVER WITHOUT A STOP DOWNTOWN TO SEE WHAT'S NEW ON FREMONT STREET AND WATCH THE SHOW

Pros: FREE, CLOSE TO CASINOS, WALKING DISTANCE

Cons: DOWNTOWN IS DIRTY, CRIME / VAGRANTS

I thought Fremont was really cool to visit. I actually went down there twice when I was visiting in Las Vegas. Fremont has a lot of neat little stores. I actually bough a lot of my family's souveniors down there. There were at least 3 bands that were playing, which kept the partying going. I had the best sandwich in my left down at Fremont. Oh, and there was a really cool artist down there. I sat and watched him for at least an hour. If you are every planning to visit Las Vegas, I would definetly visit Fremont. I had a blast both times.

Pros: inexpensive, Lights

Cons: location, parking

Covering over the infamous street, seems almost a sacrilege. During the day, the "roof" is ugly and at night the "show" is annoying. The music is always too loud for an enclosed space. The cover takes away from the glitter and awesome-ness of the original neon. The cowboy seems to have to "duck" under the roof and the Glitter Gulch girl seems subdued. What a shame to ruin it.

This is the kind of thing you do once, if you see it too many times you'll get fed up quite quickly. In the evening every half hour or so the outdoor ceiling has a video/light show with background music, there are lots of shopping Kiosks in the middle of the street plus all the older, smaller casinos in a 4 block area. There is now a small mall and multi-screen theatre at one end and several souvenir stores and bars squeezed in among the casinos. Live bands play occaisonally and one night there was a Christmas show for the kids with people dressed in costumes near the big Xmas tree. This can all be fun but if you're staying in the area it can grate on the nerves after awhile. I feel sorry for anyone who's hotel room actually faces Freemont Street.

Pros: 1 time fun, everthing close by

Cons: Loud, repetitive

The shows are neat and different, but it is so hard for the casinos downtown to compete with those on the strip! This is one of those things that you go to once, say you saw it, and then move back up to the higher rent district. The shows are different every hour and some are better than others, but it is something that Vegas Virgins should go and see.

Pros: It's Free, Nothing like it

Cons: Can be too crowded
