A traditional, romantic British-style dining room serving meaty favorites.
by Contributor at Citysearch
In Short
Upon arrival, every female diner is greeted with a long-stemmed red rose. The romance continues in the dining area that resembles an English sitting room and features exposed brickwork and low ceilings. Hugo's takes pride in a menu that's heavy on the basics: beef, chicken, fish and veal. Some dishes are prepared tableside like Hugo's Hot Rock Specialty, which includes tenderloin medallions, marinated swordfish, chicken breasts and jumbo shrimp that diners cook on a slab of granite.
Excellent Service and Food

My wife and I just got back from a trip to Vegas and ate at Hugo's Cellar for the first time. I'm not sure about the two reviews before mine (They seem to have a personal beef with someone). Our experience was great. We had reservations, but arrived early and were seated anyway without issue by a friendly hostess. Our two servers were Michael and Anthony. Both of them were very attentive and knowledgeable about the food and proper restaurant etiquette. Our food was cooked to perfection and was equally as tasty. Our salad's and everyone else's salad (that I could see) were prepared in front of the tables. The price was not cheap, but at the same time I have ate at many other Vegas restaurants that cost more with much less to offer. We rarely travel off the Strip to eat, but from now on Hugo's Cellar will be one of our destinations every time we visit Vegas
- Pros: Great food and Service
- Cons: Downtown and not on the Strip
Hugo's Cellar lost it's touch

We have been going to Hugo's Cellar for years. They lost their touch. Food was just okay. Salad use to be tossed right in front of you but the dressing is just poured on. Hostess needs to improve on her people skills.
rude hostess

the hostess seats my friend and i (two males) and returns 30 minutes later when were on our salad course to say that my friend is not wearing appropriate attire and offers a stiff white chef's shirt. my friend wore a sleeveless vest w/ jeans and leather shoes. the dress code is "neat casual". we saw men w/ t-shirts, shorts and flip-flops. no problem for them, but she suddenly had a problem w/ my friend. i say suddenly because she didn't have a problem when she greeted us and sat us earlier. she personally apologized to me later, upon which i dismissed her attempt as i find her decision-making on this matter to be indecisive and weak. i'll never eat their again, i told at least ten of my friends and will not stay or play at that hotel anymore.
It's lost it's flair...........

We?ve been going to Hugo?s for the last 14 yrs for our anniversary, the first couple of years were great but as time progressed the food wasn?t up to par ( very inconsistent) and their prices went up. The steaks were just ok, not something you?d expect at a high end restaurant, the best thing they have going for them is the salad they prepare at the table with your choice of add ons, that?s pretty much it..
We skipped this year?s anniversary dinner and went to Outback? believe it or not, they were far better than Hugo?s, so what that it?s not as cozy but I care more about better food and service, I think our trips to Hugo?s are a thing of the past? which frankly I don?t mind?.
- Pros: the rose, and salad
- Cons: too many to list

None to speak of. Food was not well prepared. Service was Ok. It was not up to the usual dining experiences in Las Vegas.
A great place in Vegas for special occasions
by renefromguadalajara at Citysearch
My girlfriend and I had planned a trip to LV. We live in Guadalajara, Mexico. So I had the idea of looking for a nice place to have dinner there, and propose! The place had to be really special. I was lucky to find some reviews of Hugo's Cellar in the internet, and based on the good comments I read I decided it was the right place. I made my reservation for Hugo's Cellar over the internet, and received the confirmation in less than 24 hours.
When we arrived there, we were asked to wait for 15 minutes, since we arrived a little earlier, but we actually were seated in less than 5 minutes. A bouquet of flowers that I had ordered with another company was already on our table.
The service from the start was really good. Two waiters waited on us, one of them was in charge of the bread and the water, and the other was in charge of preparing the salad right next to us, and also the appetizer we ordered, which was the Hugo's Hot Rock Specialty. Both, the salad and the appetizer were very good. The main course was chicken champigion for my girlfriend, and I had the Beef Wellington. Both were excellent. After that, one of the waiters asked us what the special occasion was, and my girlfriend showed him the ring I gave her before we started with the main course. He congratulated us and left, just to come back a couple of minutes later with a delicious chocolate cake, and then the other waiter came with a nice plate of strawberries and figs covered with chocolate, which were beyond delicious. So the service and food were excellent. Too bad that we had to leave early, we wish we had stayed longer, to enjoy the nice atmosphere and maybe try another dessert with a nice coffee. But we will surely come back some time in the future. My girlfriend,- now my fiancee-, was delighted with this restaurant. So was I, it surely met my expectations.
- Pros: Excellent food, very romantic atmosphere
- Cons: none
Great Food, but Service Suspect with a Large Group
by knbber2 at Citysearch
We dined at Hugo's two nights in a row last week, the first time as a couple, the second time with a group of ten. Both times, the food was outstanding; the steaks very tender, the fish fresh and the tableside salad was excellent. The difference between the two nights was the service. When we dined with only two, the service was outstanding. When we were in a large group, the service was less than adequate; water glasses left unfilled, dirty dishes remained on the table, drink orders not taken, excessive waits between courses and we actually had to track someone down to bring the check after a 30 min wait. That being said, the value of this restaurant as a fine dining establishment is unmatched. As opposed to the typical ala carte menu, the meals actually include the salad, a sorbet, vegetables and potato, and a fruit dessert. Overall, I recommend this restaurant for smaller groups.
- Pros: Value, atmosphere, food
- Cons: Poor service for large groups

Old Vegas charm in a Romantic atmosphere, Hugos is a delight. Love the rose for the ladies, and Tableside Salad preparation that goes with the meal. Staff was very knowledgeble and prompt. We had a great time and will return soon.
- Pros: romantic, roses. Ribeye
- Cons: downtown location
most romantic place

I have been eating here for years it's one of Vegas best kept secrets! The steak melts in your mouth! They greet woman w/roses at the door and the butter is even rose shaped! If you order a salad they make it fresh at your table w/countless salad toppings. I recomend this for a date, family ocassion or just to treat and pamper yourself once in a while!
- Pros: just simply romantic
- Cons: none
