Awesome and desolate place
5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

My wife and I visited this great escape from Vegas in November 2007. We wanted (and needed) to get away from the Vegas scene and places like Valley of Fire are worth it. We spent an awesome afternoon of hiking various trails in the park, and feeling the solitude of the escape. Half the fun of our day there was just in getting there from Vegas. It's definately off the beaten path and well worth the drive (about an hour). Be sure to take sunscreen, lots of water to drink, and pack a lunch. I would recommend wearing hiking shoes as well.

Pros: Awesome beauty; solitude; not crowded; within an hour's drive from Vegas

Cons: None
