Dr.Golden Saved Most of my kidney - No Dialysis for me!

This note is my thanks to Dr. Golden for saving most of my left kidney.

My story is a little unusual, since I had already lost my right kidney to cancer in 2002. That whole kidney was removed in a traditional operation through a long “shark bite” that was awfully painful and took several months to recover from. Recently my doctor found a new tumor in my left kidney (the only one I have left!). I was scared I would need this kidney removed, then be hooked up to a dialysis machine for the rest of my life.

The urologist who took out my right kidney years ago recommended Dr. Brian Golden. My primary doctor rated Dr. Golden as “EXCELLENT” which of course influenced my decision, but the deciding moments were when I actually met and discussed my case with Dr. G. He showed me my CAT scan and the tumor. He described the operation using the da Vinci robot (robotic partial nephrectomy) and showed me how much of my kidney could be saved. He had a very reassuring bedside manner, was confident (but not arrogant), and answered all my questions. He made me feel comfortable that I’d found the right surgeon for my terrifying situation.

The surgery went great! MY KIDNEY WAS WORKING JUST AS WELL AFTER SURGERY as beforehand. The few little incisions weren’t very painful and I was out of the hospital in just a day and a half. When I saw Dr. Golden after surgery, he said the pathology report said all the cancer was removed. My primary care doctor was absolutely amazed at my speedy recovery and the difference in my incisions for the right and left kidney operations!

IF YOU HAVE KIDNEY CANCER, GO SEE DR. GOLDEN. I’M EXTREMELY HAPPY AND THANKFUL THAT I DID. NO DIALYSIS FOR ME! Yeah!!

Dr. Brian Golden

Dr. Brian Golden was very highly recommended by a prestigious internal medicine group in Las Vegas. Their recommendation noted that he was eminently qualified as an experienced, practicing urologist and surgeon, particularly in a procedure called the Da Vinci. Having undergone this procedure on 5 Aug op at the hands of Dr. Golden, I attest to the fact that he has more than earned such high esteem. From initial consult, through biopsy & diagnosis of prostate cancer to eventual surgical removal of my prostate, Dr. Golden was the consummate professional. He firmly & clearly communicated the facts to me, & was always considerate of my feelings. He thoroughly explained other options to me based on my type of cancer cell & provided other sources of information I could check including other oncologists. Dr. Golden placed the decision in my hands & waited for me to decide. I really appreciated that. I'm recovering well & chances for complete recovery are great. Bless you, Dr. Golden.

The only Urologist I'll ever see.

I went to UMC Quick care 3 times and they couldn't figure out what was wrong. One short visit to Dr. Golden, and he got it right. He was not only knowledgeable and very nice, but also took the time to even show me the results under the microscope! Who does that??? He's the best Dr. I've seen. I'll will continue to go to him, and only him.

Kidney Cancer

I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Golden. I sincerely feel he saved my life. While running an abdominal scan for some stomach problems, they accidently found a large mass on my left kidney. My family doctor immediately referred me to Dr. Golden. Dr Golden ordered another scan with contrast to get a better view of the location of the mass. Due to the location and size of the mass, he recommended that he remove the whole kidney. The risk of infection and complication by trying to remove just the mass was too great. It ultimately was my final decision and I decided to follow his recommendation. He made me no promises but he thoroughly explained how he intended to make four small incisions (1/4" to 1") in length to get everything out. The morning before the surgery, he met with my husband and went in details to explain him what was going to take place. I honestly and truly felt I was in good hands. When I woke up from surgery, all I had was four small incisions, the longest (1") through my belly button. I was in the hospital two days and went to see Dr Golden one week after my surgery for a follow up. He explained that the cancer was malignent and

aggresive but he removed everything; no need for radiation or chemotherapy. My surgery took place in Nov. 2008 and Dr Golden sends me for scans every three months. So far, everything's been just fine! Too sum up, if you are seeing a Urologist and are not totally comfortable, get a second opinion and see Dr Golden. He truly is the best!

Now I'm urinating like a seventeen years old again!

I am a retiree who suffered from enlarge prostate for years. After the LASER (evolve) I can say now ..I feel like a seventeen years old again. Dr Golden is the best.

Dr. Goden robotic surgery success

Dr, Golden and the Da Vinci procedure have preserved my husband's urologic and sexual functiions. His expertise with the robotic procedure has made a 56 year old man and his wife very happy! We were very impressed with Dr. Golden, the hospital and the staff in both his offices and the hospital. Any man considering surgery for prostate cancer needs to see Dr. Golden and learn about the robotic procedure. My husband is only 10 days post op and is feeling fantastic! There is a positive future after a prostatectomy. Thanks Dr. Golden!

Great Doctor, I'm very happy!

Great Doctor and a great staff. My experience with Dr. Golden went very well. Since the proceedure all parts working and I'm very greatful to the doctor for his good work. Excellent, very professional. If you have a problem or think you might a problem and are considering a proceedure I highly reccomend Dr Golden.

Awesome Doctor and staff!

Gentlemen, do yourself a favor and have annual PSA/Prostate screenings. Painless procedure that could save your life. I recently had a prostrate biopsy performed by Dr Golden and many years of dread and fear. What a waste of time and needless fear. The procedure was nearly painless, somewhere between that of a haircut and a flu shot.

Dr Golden is awesome, his staff is caring, and your questions and fears will be answered and addressed. Be a hero, take care of yourself, call Dr Golden with any male related issues.

Best of Las Vegas - if there was a catagory for Dr's!

This Dr is caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable. He was quick to react to my issues, especially since it was such a surprise issue that happened. He?s been a wonderful support, and he should be sought out by anyone in the Las Vegas area searching for a GOOD UROLOGIST! He has 2 offices (1) in Henderson, and (1) in Las Vegas at San Martin (Thus Appts Only ? for now). YOU GO DR. GOLDEN!! ? YOU ARE THE BEST OF LAS VEGAS PERPETUALLY ? Too bad there isn?t a category for Good physicians in ?Best of Las Vegas? ? You?d be there repeatedly every year!

Excellent experience - kidney cancer surgery

I was referred to Dr. Golden when my doctor found a mass in my kidney. I was surprised at how much time Dr. Golden took to look over my films with me and explained the treatment options without confusing me with medical lingo. We decided to freeze the tumor with "laparoscopic cryoablation." The surgery went great and I was able to leave the hospital the DAY AFTER SURGERY! I had very little pain and got back to my usual activities in about a week. Dr. Golden has a great bedside manner and I felt very confident in his abilities. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone that needs a good urologist! Thank You!
