Vox is another upscale video poker bar offering excellent food. The formal dining room an adjoining lounge area were very impressive, but the night was comfortable so we dined on the terrace. The chef’s pedigree is equally impressive having most recently served as the executive sous chef at San Francisco’s Aqua. Both he and the pastry chef have experience working at the Bouchon restaurant in Napa Valley so we had high expectations and were not disappointed. Ms. wife ordered the seared ahi tuna over garlic noodles with red cabbage and carrots. My entrée proved to be the best of the trip – miso glazed black cod with bok choy and wasabi pommes puree. We also shared a rather pedestrian dish of steamed rapini. The highlight of the evening for my wife was a hazelnut chocolate mousse with shortbread and hazelnut crème.
Pros: Food
Cons: None

I had been to Vox with a few friends in early March and we really enjoyed the food there. The service was spotty but I easily overlooked it. I decided to take some out of town visitors in to Vox last night and was surprised that they changed their entire menu! The menu now is watered down version of a chain restaurant and nothing like I remembered. Again, the service was REALLY PAINFULLY slow and I never saw a manager present all night. They have music in the dining room which is horribly loud and difficult to talk over. I don't think this place will last......
Pros: zip
Cons: bad food, loud atmosphere, crappy service

I cannot tell you enough on how horrible the service is at VOX. Went there on 7/26/08 and discovered that service has an all time low. We had arrived and was seated promptly by a friendly hostess, there was about 6 tables occupied in the entire place which wasnt a good sign at 7 at night. While looking over the menu we waited 15 minutes before someone came up to offer us what water we preferred, after asking for flat bottled water we waited another 15 minutes in which the waiter brung us bread and still no water. The waiter then asked what we would like to drink? We had ordered a bottle of Proseco. Here is where it gets good. While waiting another 10 minutes a server had brought us our dinner? WOW, we havnt even ordered yet. I told the server sorry wrong table and he asked, are u sure? 10 minutes later the waiter asked are we ready to order? I asked where our drinks were and he said they are still making them. Making sparkling wine? WOW, thats a new one! I said we ordered a bottle of proseco, the waiter said he would be right back. Yes another 10 minutes later and he had brung us a glass of white wine and a glass of red wine. That was it for me, being there for over an hour and not even getting my drink right is just very sad. Yes we should have left earlier but I was trying to give them the benifit of the doubt. I did not want to complain to managment because the whole place was very unorganized and I would never return even if the meal was free. I now know how this place gets such bad reviews. I will never ever step foot in that establishment again. Its a real shame to walk out of a eating establishment hungry and bitter. Goodbye VOX!
Pros: Nice hostess
Cons: Terrible service

This is the second time that we have been to VOX. We are from the other side of the world, Summerlin that is, and Love the restaurant soo much that just had to come back! First the Food, Wow! Everything that we had was great, we were most impressed with the Whole Roasted Peking Duck! This was our favorite dish Ever! As an appetizer our server, I think his name was Diego, recommended the Trio of Tartare. i know that we've had Tartare about a Million times but this was the Best. Amazing! Ahh, the service, let me tell you about great service..... Our server was completely on point, He even paired wines with each course we enjoyed, I highly recommend the Loire Pinot Noir! Completely worth the trip, We will be back
Pros: Menu, Wine Pairing, Service
Cons: Distance from Home

tha ambience was fantastic and the food was preparred very well. I love the fact that they did not try to overload my plate with uneccessary fillers for the sake of having a huge plate of food. The service was good and the staff made sure that my special needs were taken care of.

So, I only came here to see what others were saying because I was wondering why they have such a high turnover rate with their staff. The reason I know this is because I see an ad every week or every other week looking for people to fill in every kind of position........guess that customers and employees are both unhappy....

First let me say that we have been dying to try Vox since they opened. We went on Saturday (4/5) with a reservation for 4 at 7:30. While some of the food was quite good the service was unbelievably poor. It took nearly 15 minutes for a waiter to appear and we had to ask repeatedly for everything (wine list, butter knives, napkins, water). Our waiter was friendly enough but clearly under-trained. His demeanor was more in keeping with a Cheesecake Factory-style restaurant. Everyone seemed poorly trained. Over the course of 3 hours (service was painfully slow), we watched an abundance of staff run around the restaurant and over each other. There was no flow. Two people frequently did a job that one could easily handle and staff constantly walked by tables that clearly had unmet needs (empty water glasses, long finished and uncleared plates). We spent long periods sitting with no service. When we ordered, the waiter suggested that first time customers order the tasting menu because otherwise we'll order wrong and then we won't enjoy ourselves. Bypassing the tasting menu, when we ordered one round of tapas while we decided on the next round, we were informed that would mess up the kitchen timing and that there was no telling how long our food would take. That turned out to be the only truism of the night. The first round of 4 tapas took almost 25 minutes to arrive by which time we had been seated for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Asking 3 times for bread we were told that the delay was because they were baking it. When the bread finally arrived (1 hour and 20 minutes after our arrival), it was cold and not freshly baked. Why lie to your customers? Some food was good (warm brie, veggie flat bread) and some poor (duck confit salad, beet salad). The dessert special was so badly done that we sent it back, cancelled our coffees (after 15 minutes), and grabbed the check. They are trying hard but are disorganized, poorly trained, and in way over their heads.
Pros: Patio looked nice
Cons: Service, service, service, service

A ferrari and laborghiini parked jack@ss right in front taking up several spaces turned me off right away. I'm an erudite consumer of wine (I have a wine cellar of over 300 wines from Napa and Bordeaux) and of restarurants and wine bars in this area so I was excited about Vox. I also consider myself fairly svelte, boy was I wrong. We were treated completely out of line at Vox. The wait staff seem to think they are above the customers. I had a lengthy conversation about the wine list and dinner menu and the waiter seemed disinterested, bored and put out. Hey, I've never been to "Vox" before so I had some questions. This place hasn't been there that long so it's not like this is The Four Seasons or anything. We couldn't believe it. Do yourself a favor and try La Collina instead. It's right down the street, has great food and fabulous wine selection. Their wait staff is about 1000% more friendly than "Vox" Really wanted Vox to be good, too.
Pros: trendy spot
Cons: bad service, small portions

Okay- First I would like to thank everyone for their comments good and bad and indifferent. Fortunately the good outweigh the bad. We at WOXwinelounge are committed to learning from our neighbors, friends and customers. It takes a lot of courage and commitment to write a review. We thank all of you for taking the time regardless of the comments. Most people don't comment. At VOX we are believers in continuous improvements. We take the feedback seriously and we respond, as you can see in this email. It is true we made a substantial offer to our nearby neighbors. It was our intention to get a lot of people in our neighborhood out of their homes and into our dining. We succeeded. This was done for three very key reasons: 1) Get the people around us talking. 2) Test the capacity of our venue and get people talking. 3) Collect valuable information with comment cards. ...Again we succeeded and we did so - on all levels. We do not have plans to send out such a bold offer again anytime soon. We are sure the offer-takers had a great time and they helped us in refining our product. We thank them for that and we thank you for your comments. Let me finish by saying that we have been very successful in winning over loyal customers 1 by 1 and in small clusters. We are very happy with our progress and we are looking forward to the spring when we will launch our Sunday Brunch program. Also, Saturday School was started over three weeks ago and it has turned into a wonderful little program. People just love it! If you haven't attended this cooking class and wine tasting program on Saturdays please do so in the future. I am sure you will enjoy it very much. In response to a free promotion, which seemed to good to be true, turned out that way. Eight days ago, I made a 6:30 reservation for a Tuesday night (2/19/08) By 7:10 four people who had a 6:45 reservation walked out. I informed the host we were leaving and to cancel our reservation. We were the ones they need to cater to, as we would come back and need to rely on us for positive, word of mouth advertising. This is a caviar/wine/high-end restaurant wannabe, and to do a free-be type dinner was a huge mistake. The people who were there were not people who would come back again, as they were in sweat pants and fanny packs.....buffet types. My prediction is this place will be closed by the end of April.........too bad.
