Very Disappointing

by gchick at Citysearch

This may only be slightly better than a Taco Bell because of the good drinks and bartenders. The food was bland, portions were too small and there was a serious lack of ingredients going into our dishes. Needless to say, it was disappointing and overpriced.

PARTY TILL THE COWS COME HOME!

by Amadeus01 at Citysearch

I had to follow a reader's suggestion and decided to check out their Latin night.

SInce we were hungry though we figured we'd have dinner prior to partying. The dinner was great all together. I had the chile rellenos/ Chile rellenos tell you whether a Mexican restaurant is good or not. They passed the test since the chiles were like the ones made in Mexico City, full of cheese, a bit spicy and a nice coating of egg whites. Most places dip their rellenos in a mixture of scrambled eggs, so when they are placed in the sauce, the egg mixture just falls off. That is my personal test and Diego passed with flying colors. There were a couple of small glitches with their "ceviche" but they were prompt to fix them. The service was great, very friendly staff. They were busy but it did not affect the service.

Now for the best part. Vida their Latin club was awesome. After dinner the server offered us complimentary stay for the club (more money for drinks).

The place was packed but if you park yourslef close to the bar, that is where the action is. Lots of dancing and partying with strangers. Amazingly we lasted til the end. The DJ played a great set including Vicente Fernandez as a partying rally.

We're going back>

Not your ordinary mexican fare

by soinsea at Citysearch

I'm not an expert on mexican food. I don't love it. But this place made everything right. We had a certificate or two, so we weren't particularly mindful of our budget. We were able to sample a variety of things and were pleasantly pleased with it all. The waitstaff was wonderful. We got there late and most of the crowds had left, so perhaps they could spend more time with us. Whatever. Maybe that's a tip. Anyway, it was a memorable meal and evening out for us.

Skip this restaurant

by romskull at Citysearch

No, no, no. Spend your money ( a lot of it ) elsewhere. We are from Houston, and we know Mexican (& Tex-Mex) food. We also know good food. This place does not have it. The ambiance and service were OK, otherwise the rating would be one star. Everyone was disappointed with their entrees. I opted for the chef's 'Taster' (sample platter) of four dishes: sea bass (decent, though slightly overcooked), beef tenderloin (uninspired and bland lying atop some sort of odd bland paste), ceviche (this was the worst - almost nothing but cabbage/lettuce that tasted fishy - I'm not kidding), and fingerling potatoes (good, but are boiled potatoes really something a great chef puts on display?). Our complaints were all similar. The food was bland or ordinary. I can get a better meal from a chain restaurant in Houston. I rarely write restaurant reviews, but the degree of disappointment was so high, I just had to vent a bit. Choose a different restaurant in Vegas.

Best Guacamole and Margaritas in town, crazy hot latin late night club, outstanding service

by greeneyedgal at Citysearch

Diego is one of my favorite places to dine at when it comes to Mexican food. As a local it is rare that i make it out to the strip to eat but since i enjoy partying on the strip i occasionally make it out for dinner. The margaritas are fantastic and refreshing and the table side guacamole is the best in town. But my favorite thing Diego has to offer, is the Latin Late Nightclub, Vida on Friday and Saturday nights. The DJ is so talented and they play everything from salsa and meringue to reggae-ton, hiphop and spanish rock. I believe Fridays is some sort of ladies night since ladies never pay to get in plus they raffle off bottle service. The crowd is attractive and energized. Overall, Diego is top choice, the staff is so accommodating and friendly which makes the service great, the food is killer, and the ambience is spectacular.

Great place for eating and party all night

by Luzdaly at Citysearch

I loved this place, the day i went the staff was very friendly and invited me to come during the night. The food was great, the place is clean and the staff is very friendly. I dicided to visit that night and I stay until 5:00 am it was the best night in Las Vegas. I dance until they closed the place and the next morning I felt all my body ache for all the dancing. You need to visit this place if you want to eat good and para mover el esqueleto toda la noche.

Lacked Consistency

by mauricio1 at Citysearch

My wife and I visited the restaurant with four friends in October 2007. The food, the margaritas, the sangria, and service were EXCELLENT! We all ordered different appetizers, entrees, desserts, and drinks. We were impressed with each of the items. At the time, $$$$ was fit for the quality of the food & service.

We returned two months later and found the sangria to have lost its luster (tasted more like a watered-down fizzy-punch) and the guacamole and main entrees (cochinita pibil & carne asada) to be fair. The service also lost its luster--our main entrees were served but a few minutes after our appetizer (the guacamole) was prepared/served. Unimpressed, this time, we felt $$$$ was far too much for our 'fair' experience. For the caliber the restaurant presents, it should hold up as such on any given night.

  • Cons: "Fair" in December 2007

poor service, fatty steak, not for people who can't climb

by emily275 at Citysearch

We ate at Diego midweek and the food left a lot to be desired. The service was also very poor. The server introduced herself, took our order, and we didn't see her again until our child fell off the tall stool they consider a chair, when she appeared to ask how everything was. We started with Guacamole which was good, but we didn't have enough chips to eat all of it and asked for more, but they never came. We ended up finishing the guacamole using a spoon. My husband ordered Carne Asada which was so full of fat that he ate about an eighth of it. There was fat throughout. The server didn't serve it, someone else did. Our daughter fell off the tall barstool they use at the tables and spilled her drink on the floor. We caught the server and told her the drink spilled and she said she'd send someone to mop but never did. I ended up using all our napkins to mop it so no one would fall. When the server finally came to our table, my husband told her about the fat in the steak and she offered to get him another one, but we were already through and waiting for the bill. We had already eaten the guac with a spoon since they didn't bring the chips we asked for, mopped up the spill and got disgusted with the service. The total came to $105 and we left only $110 since the service was so lousy and the quality of the food was so poor. We always leave at least 20% but didn't at Diego because of the service. The server never did actually serve us anything at all. She didn't get us anything we asked for and we would not eat there again. The server probably doesn't even realize how poor her service was.The rice was undercooked as well. I had a Diego margarita which cost $12 but wasn't as good as the ones I can make with Cuervo and Margaritaville mix. All in all, we were highly disappointed and will stick with visiting Wolfgang Puck's restaurants, which never disappoint.

  • Pros: The orange salsa was tasty
  • Cons: The service, The steak, The seating

Good Food, not the best in the MGM though

by jcc37000 at Citysearch

Fun experience with some empanadas, beers, and chicken. It is not my favorite MGM restaurant, but overall good.

  • Pros: Better than average Food, Ambience
  • Cons: Slightly expensive for Mexican
