Tables were covered with thick white paper. Bread was served directly onto the paper cover. Hope it was replaced after previous customers. You can get the same quality of paper cover at the Macaroni Grill. At least there they write on it so you know you got a new cover. No bread plates, you had to keep putting your bread onto the table cover. The bread was a fancy woven design so had lots of crust and not much bread inside. If you want salt or pepper you have to ask for it, no shakers on the table. The waiter comes over and grinds the salt like they do pepper. Guess it is unacceptable to salt and pepper your own food. Fish served with the head on. French style? My wife thought the menu was rather limited and really did not find anything she liked. My daughter did not like it at all as it did not come across as a "fancy" restaurant. She had steak and just barely was I able to stop her from asking for A-1 Sauce. She thought the steak was dry. The sound was pretty bad as there is little if any thought to sound control. Voices echo off the walls and if you want you can eavesdrop on conversations across the room.

Unless you are really into "authentic" French food, I would not recommend this place.

  • Pros: Reasonable price
  • Cons: Crude and loud.

We recently went to dinner at Bouchon ( April 09 ) on our Vagas trip. Loving food and fine dining, I was really looking forward to this one. The hostess was friendly and we were seated quickly. Everyone who served us was professional- with the exception of our waiter, who seemed to have last worked at a fast food joint. I ordered the field greens salad with warm goat cheese, my husband ordered the mussels. Our waiter managed to topple my salad in front of me, spilling leaves and goat cheese all over the table. He apologized in a way that made me think he was doing me a favor by taking back the salad, and promptly left our table littered with leaves and dressing ( nobody offered to clean up the mess ). I had to laugh to keep myself from saying something nasty. I ordered the salmon and my husband the lamb, portions were ok and the food was great, the salmon was flavorful and moist while the lamb was tender and cooked a perfect medium. Thumbs up to the chefs! But alas, our waiter neglected us, and it took standing up out of the chair for him to notice anything. The bad service climaxed at the end out our meal, when our waiter gave us the wrong receipt to fill out with how much we wanted to tip and sign off on the card. It took a better part of 20 minutes for him to pick up the check and then notice his mistake, forcing us to fill out a second silly form while already impatient to finally leave.

Leaving this poor service in the past, Bouchon has a great little bakery outpost on the casino floor in the Venetian. Croissants are flavorful and can be toasted, eclairs and desserts are to die for! The service at the bakery far exceeds that which is had in the restaurant.

  • Pros: really awesome bakery near Venetian Casino
  • Cons: Service that needs improvement

My friend and I went Jan. 09 during our Vegas trip. Both of us being foodies, Bouchon was on the top of our list of restaurants to go based on their reputation (thanks, Anthony Bourdain!). We were not disappointed. We went during brunch time. Both the hostess and our waiter were courteous and friendly. We ordered the Czar Nicholas Sturgeon to split, which was one of the specials. The waiter brought us homemade jam and butter. Our fish was well cooked and the flavors balanced perfectly with each other. My friend, who is not as cultured as I am when it comes to food said it was the best meal he's every had. I would have to agree that is one of the best meals I have ate at a restaurant. The whole experience was perfect.

Also at the Venetian is Bouchon Bakery. We went there several times to have something quick to grab and go. The pastries were excellent. Too bad the city we live does not have Thomas Keller's restaurant. We would come back again and again.

  • Pros: Excellent food and service.
  • Cons: Bit difficult to find in the hotel.

Lately people have commented on the poor service here. I've been here twice -- in January and November 2008. Both times, the service left a lot to be desired. However, in November it was much worse. Our server got a table of 10 she had to take care of, and once that happened, she was out of sight for us. Another server had to take over the table next to us, since she was unable to get to them to take their order. Ultimately at the end, they forgot to give us the pastry chef chocolate/mini dessert dish because they were so disorganized.

The chicken was the best chicken dish I've ever had -- it seemed to melt in my mouth. I was dying to have it again, but this time, opted to order one of the day's specials -- scallops with corn succotash. The scallops were perfectly done, and the corn succotash was yummy. We also had two of the special desserts, which were delicious. However, the service really was disappointing -- so consider this when thinking about going to Bouchon.

  • Pros: Great food
  • Cons: Poor service, ambience/decor somewhat disappointing

WAITRESS FORGES SIGNATURES!

My friends and I ate there a few months ago. We split the bill and each person paid $36. We gave the waitress $72 in cash and charged the rest on our credit cards.

3 weeks later, I receive my credit card statement and the waitress charged me for the entire amount. She took the cash and put the total on my credit card! Then, when I called the restaurant, I found out that the waitress had been "let go" 1 week after we ate there.

I went back to the restaurant and they would not own up to it even though the waitress had been let go. They said I had to go through the credit card company and they were not responsible.

First off, we received the worst service that day. We had 6 people so the waitress knew that the automatic service charge would be applied. She never brought us the bread basket, and she forget to bring us the drinks we ordered. We waited for 20 minutes after we got our food before receiving the drinks. The entire time, she ignored us and was very condescending. That's probably why she got let go.

The restaurant would not take responsibility for this though. They were the ones that hired that terrible waitress. Plus, they fired her.

I am still disputing the charge but I wanted to make sure everyone here knew about my terrible experience.

We really enjoyed our experience here. Of course we had to check out this restaurant since it is owned by Thomas Keller, one of the most decorated chefs around. We were not disappointed as the food and service was excellent. Looking forward to going back.

This place is fine - it's a decent approximation of a French bistro, two of my friends at the table were served two of the absolute worst steaks I've ever tasted. They had the consistency of a microwaved Hungry Man dinner. Seriously. And this isn't me just bitching or being annoying. My chicken entree was actually really good. But this steak was perhaps the worst thing I've ever been served in a restaurant of any level. I mean if there's one thing a French bistro anywhere in the world should be able to do well, it's Steak Frites. Obviously, onion soup is the other and based on the reviews here we didn't even touch that one. Add this to the list of basics they can't seem to grasp. Uch. Disgusting.

I was impressed the minute I walked into the restaurant as it gives a marvelous french bistro vibe.

Based on the ambience, I expected an expensive menu, yet the dishes are priced very reasonably and the dishes were excellent too.

The restaurant's oysters are very fresh, although quite small in size, it's still worth the try.

The fries were great, and some of the main dishes like the Roasted Chicken and the mussels are also excellent.

We love the French Laundry and decided to try Bouchon. The service was very good and generally friendly, the menu was quite difficult to read. We and the couple at the next table kept on asking each other what was on the menu - at least we had fun with it.

The onion soup was tasteless - like it was made using bouillion cubes and quite salty. The oxtail was very pretty but wayyyy too salty - it wasn't edible. The onion soup was replaced with carrot soup which was good.

Dessert: the french donuts - truly wonderful and outstanding. If we go again we would order dessert only and coffee.
