I am sorry to report, but this restaurant at 2210 sahara is now closed. The proprietor were evicted. There is an eviction notice on the front glass door. Is there another Puerto Rican restaurant in town? Regards, quartermaster

As a puertorrican that just arrived here to Nevada, was recomended that place for lunch by a friend. Unfortunately it's not what it's recomended, service was bad and the long wait for our appetizers which never arrived. And when asked the server mention it must've been given to someone else. What ever happen to that puertorrican taste? This is one place which I would never visit or recomend to anyone.

Pros: clean

Cons: bad service, and not well season

Please do not go to this resaraunt. It is the worst customer service I have ever received. Our waitress charged us for items that we did not order including drinks which say free refills but they actually charge you for refills. Also, we had a coupon from Restaraunt dot com which we paid to get and the owner refused to honor it.

I am a Puerto Rican from New York City and have lived in Las Vegas for 8 years. WOW! I didn't know what I was missing. I stumbled upon this little jewel while out with a friend one day and have been addicted ever since. I think I visitied 4 times the first week! OK the service is not the best always but I come for the food. You can't beat the prices here and the FOOD is amazing. I highly recommend the pernil with arroz con gandules(roasted pork w/ yellow rice and peas). If you just want something on the run get a few pastelillos(beef patties) and you won't be disappointed. When I walk in I feel at home and that's all that matters.

Pros: Great food, low prices.

Cons: Slow service, little salads

We stopped for lunch in order to once again enjoy a cup of their fabulous chicken noodle soup and a slice of their equally delicious coconut flan. Fantastic taste and oh so good for you - right mom?

I have been eating here since 2003 and every time I return the food gets better and better. Usually when you eat at a caribbean restaurant out west it's okay...but it's not like home. I ate there this past Labor Day weekend and it was just like being home. The former manager is the current owner and she has done a wonderful job of improving the quality of the food. The accapurria is fantastic as was the arroz con candules, the breaded steak, los platanos, and the carne guisado...if you visit Vegas make your way to El Coqui. It's far better than some of the higher priced joints on the strip.

Pros: Tastes just like home

Cons: it's a 10 hour drive for me to eat here

We checked this place out because of it's reviews on Citysearch. We arrived and ordered. Our server was nice. Of the three initial entrees we ordered they only had one available. Of the three initial drinks we ordered they only had one available. Server was cheery and we really wanted to try this place so we made alternate selections. Went through the first round of drinks waiting for food. Thirty minutes have elapsed. Ordered a second round of drinks waiting for food. Forty five minutes have elapsed. Ordered a third round of drinks 60 minutes have elapsed. Three of us went in and now one of us have left the building for the car. The person leaving has ordered only an avocado salad which still has not come. One hour and thirty minutes later the food arrives. Some of it is cold and some of it is warm. Some of it is not cooked through. Salad is missing with one of our entrees. Our cheery server has been replaced with someone else who is not so cheery. We of course complain about the time. Nothing done about the bill or the bad service. My suggestion- eat here only if there is a disaster and it's the only restaurant left open.

Pros: None to speak of except the female server who was very nice.

Cons: See review for list.

This restaurant is one of my favorite. My husband is puerto rican so I have been eating this food for years now. I konw good puerto rican food. We take all of our visitors there when we get company from out of town. The atmosphere is nice and it has that latin side that brings out the romance in you. The service is great, and warm and inviting. I have recommended this spot to alot of people and never had any negative things come back to me.

Pros: inexpensive, intimate, flavorful

After reading About El Coqui on this website I thought I would try it.We walked in and the atmoshpere was really nice. The table we sat down at was dirty and it took along time for the waiter to finally clean it. Actually most the time he sat bsing with people. We asked for an appetizer and that never came. When we ordered my husband had the pastelle plate which only comes with one by the way. If you want 2 it is $10 for a plate. The prices were really outragous for the portion size. We never got our beans with our dinner plate and the salad was just lettus with a slice of tomato and one slice of cucumber. The pastelles were alright, I have had better. The Pionono was really good, but I would not go back to this place.

Pros: nice atmosphere

Cons: , bad service, bad value
