This enormous Japanese buffet attracts a diverse crowd for all-you-can-eat sushi and tempura.

In Short
The first Todai Restaurant debuted in 1985 in Santa Monica, Calif., and has since opened in locations across the U.S. and in Hong Kong. The restaurant, with seating for up to 500 people, features a 160-foot seafood buffet offering more than 40 kinds of sushi, all made fresh. The salad selection ranges from Caesar to seaweed to red potato salad. Hot entrees include sukiyaki, teriyaki chicken, sweet-and-sour pork and udon noodles.
Terrible Terrible Food!!!!

This is one of the worst places I have eaten at ever! The first time I went I tried a lot of the sushi and it did not taste fresh at all. The only thing I found myself able to stomach and go back for were the crab legs which were good. All the hot dishes and salad were mediocre at best. I thought maybe I just went on a fluke day and went back a year later to the same bad food. This time I brought my boyfriend and he couldn't eat anything. We've both vowed never to go back. With that being said it was very clean inside and the staff was very friendly and attentive but if the food is practically inedible it is not worth the money no matter how good the staff is.
- Pros: nice staff.
- Cons: high priced, disgusting food.
Great Service, Good Food, Great Selection, Great Location, Good price

Great service -- I made a reservation for 20, but was joined by 10 more for 30. I hosted some, and others required separate checks, all wanted different drinks, the wait staff took it all in with grace and accommodated flawlessly. In this era of shoddy service, it's refreshing to encounter such positive attitudes. I would've given it a recommendation based on that alone. However, the food was good too! I've had better Japanese buffet, but not in the USA. This is the best I've encountered in USA and I received many positive comments from my fellow diners. I would definitely recommend this place.
- Pros: Service, food
- Cons: Location may be hard to find
I LOVE SUSHI
by sushinut71
I love sushi and if I can have all I can eat GREAT !!!! We have a Minado's here in New Jersey and it's pretty much the same thing. Todai is better though. They have a greater variety and it's tastier. For the money you cannot ask for more !!! I LOVE SUSHI !!!!

Not bad. I stayed across the street at the Marriott Chateau and saw it in the Aladin shopping plaza. I have not eaten much sushi before and enjoyed their selection, well almost all of the RAW FISH LOL No I went for lunch on a Saturday. It was worth the $20. GO GATORS!!!
- Pros: take your time and enjoy a variety of sushi
- Cons: not a huge variety for picky kids and no booths, just tables and chairs (not the most comfortable)
Love this place

Todai is an awesome concept for a sushi bar. You can pick and choose what you want to eat and how many pieces of each type of sushi you want. It's not any cheaper than what you would expect to pay for really good sushi, and the sushi is good but not really really good, but it's a fun place, especially for someone who has a few favorite rolls they could eat limitless amounts of. I wish they had this place back home.
Fresh!

I've never been disappointed at Todai's. They have a great variety of sushi and offer salmon and tuna sashimi. Because of the constant turnover, the fish is very fresh. I love the seaweed and octopus salads. They have a great variety of hot foods too. Best place for all you can eat!
Yummy!

I was very pleased dining at Todai. All the dishes I tried were yummy! The crab legs were fresh, the sushi was thick cut, fresh salads, and the finest deserts like creme brulee and cheesecake. I wish there was a location in Ohio!
- Pros: Service, Food, Parking
- Cons: Atmosphere, Crowded, Price
Best sushi buffet ever
by sumarie
I love sushi and eat it all the time. This was the best sushi buffet ever. They have an amazing selection with a lot of variety. If you like sushi, you have to go here. It is located inside the mall at the Aladin.
- Pros: choice, variety, numerous options
