There are some great restaurants in Las Vegas and this USED to be one. It has fallen on hard times. The service is atrocious. The wait staff is lacking adult leadership.

Pros: Drink the martinis and you might not notice how bad tthe service is

Cons: Service (if you care to call it that) with a snear

It was my friend's birthday and we decided to go here. She had been in New Orleans and loved it. Well, our experience was far from what you'd get at even a decent restaurant. The staff seemed completely confused all night. When we ordered drinks, three went to the wrong person. One person noticed and then had them take them back and fix them. To be honest, I think they just swapped the drinks. Joe, who took the order, wasn't the guy bringing the drinks. Either he didn't know how to take the order or the person bringing the drinks didn't know how to read it. After finally receiving the food...which took a very long time for them to get around to taking the order, the food was just average, minus the fish...which was similar to Van De Kamp's. The presentation on the plate was nice and the greens were good, but the fish was horrible. Two of us had gotten desert included with the meal (the bread pudding souffle), which was delicious, so the other two of us got desert as well. The coffee we ordered didn't come with the desert and when we asked about it, we received water...then a few minutes later we received the coffee. We were almost done with the desert by the time the coffee came. They then brought out some pralines for our birthday person and a hat. We just looked at each other and laughed at the pralines. You'd get cake from even Chilli's or Friday's. When Steve came around asking us if we wanted anything more, drinks or anything else. One of us replied sarcastically "sure" and then we all laughed. A few minutes later, the same drinks arrived that we originally ordered at the beginning of the night. We were annoyed and argued with Steve about them. We then told who we thought was the manager, but in fact the maitre d', about the experience. He said he'd take a couple deserts off the bill and gave us a bag of pralines. 20 minutes of waiting later, we had to ask for a manager after receiving the bill and had to argue with him.

We were really looking forward to experiencing their Cajun and Creole food after reading the reviews but, we were very disappointed. Our visit started with a maitre d’ who may have been having a bad day; no we did not have a reservation but, it was 1 p.m. on a Monday and the restaurant was not busy. He was unattentive, rude and arrogant. Good thing they served martinis for 25 cents. The food was fresh but bland. The service, other than the maitre d' was excellent but excessive...one server per customer per table in addition to the main server and the bus boy..........that must be why they charge the prices that they do. I would not return to this restaurant, not even for the 25 cent martinis.

Commander's Palace is a great restaurant -- especially for lunch! We decided to try the Las Vegas CP and were not disappointed. Excellent food, good service, and an incredible Creole bread pudding souffle with bourbon-whiskey sauce. We somehow missed the news on the cheap martinis, but lunch was excellent and I anticipate that we'll be back sometime on a future trip.

Pros: The famous Creole bread pudding souffle with bourbon-whiskey sauce is just one reason to stop in

Cons: Out of the way location in Aladdin, poorly advertised

if you visit las vegas you HAVE to try lunch at C.P. it is by far the best deal in town and the food is just out of this world!! for $18.80 you get a three course meal and top that off with $0.25 martini's thats right a REAL FULL SIZED martini for a quarter.you get that old new orleans cooked for days flavor(you have to try the gumbo or red beans and rice or turtle soup), or just about anything they have on the menu will be so full of flavor .and the desserts are to die for!! the service is just first class all the way, they imported most of there staff from new orleans so you get that old new orleans hospitality that only a brennan run place will give you. a MUST TRY Meal!!

The $18.80 lunch special is an absolute steal. And we've never had a problem with drink service being slow, we can usually only polish off two of their martinis anyway -- they make 'em strong! The Bananas foster is to die for, and I'm not even a fan of bananas...

$70+ Champagne Breakfast for two was well worth it if your tastes are exotic, but I failed to consider my spouse's meat & potatoes palate. She stripped the entre to the bare bones and showed reasonable enjoyment. Their Turtle Soup deserves caps. We booked at 10AM and were disappointed that their Dixieland Duo were tardy. No reason, they only play on the weekends. Also a sparse crowd was a downer.

Th9s was our fifth visit and I was disappointed to learn that the long time manager Mike Smith had recently departed for Texas, but I was recognized and warmly greeted (big hug) by Santino, the Maitre d. I requested a table in the Garden Room, but it was temporarily closed due to work on the front façade so we were seated in the Wine Room. We ordered the 3-course $18.80 lunch special. I started off with the housemade crispy Andouille cake with green onion crème fraiche and baby greens. My entrée was a 3 ham (Tasso, peppered wild boar and Parma) salad with creamy roasted garlic-artichoke dressing sounded better than it tasted, but the frozen bananas foster mousse dessert made my cares go away. Ms. Westie chose the Creole vegetable bisque followed by beef debris en Planket, slow roasted and braised beef tenderloin in a spicy jus over French bread with shoestring potatoes and horseradish emulsion, plus the aforementioned mousse. We consumed a total of 5 martinis at 25 cents each: 2 juicy cupcakes and 3 Commander's Palace.

We've always wanted to try Commander's, and the 25-cent martinis during lunch sealed the deal on our trip last week. The food was very good. We had crab cobb salad (a little steep at $24 but it was delicious) and one of us had the $18.80 three-course special (corn bisque, catfish, and dessert of cheese cake or chocolate cake, not the signature bananas foster). The service was pretty slow all-around, I mean lunch should not take two hours, especially when they are sloooow to bring out your drinks. I realize they probably don't want you ordering a lot of 25-cent martinis, but c'mon, 20 minutes to bring out the first drink? That's ridiculous. And it wasn't just us, other tables around us were also wondering where their drinks were. At least they had alcohol in them--they were real martinis. And we ended up having only two each. My recommendation if you go: order two up front so you don't have to wait and wait and wait for your drink.

Pros: good food, nice atmosphere, 25-cent martinis

We have been to the CP many times before but were disappointed by the slapdash service we received in September. It took over an hour and a half when we ordered from the lunch menu. The waiter and maitre'd/manager were profuse in apologies but wouldn't adjust the bill. Money talks, or is that a novel concept in Vegas? Visit them in N'orleans.
