Editorial Review for Prego Italian Cuisine – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
Executive chef John Watt's menu leans toward uncomplicated Italian fare. Credit is due for imaginative creations like smoked duck ravioli with port wine, sun dried cherries and crimini mushrooms, and potato-crusted lump crab cake with lobster and roasted corn butter. Lasagna is transformed with veal meatballs, tomato coulis and pesto. The wood-burning grill cranks out goodies like red snapper with salsa verde, mustard-crusted lamb chops, and confit of duck leg with porcini risotto.

Went on a Sunday at lunchtime. Pretty empty. Service was excellent, but food was hit-or-miss. The bread they brought to the table was cold, and some of the bread seemed doughy and undercooked. The dipping oil was fantastic, lots of herb and garlic taste. My fiancee ordered the lamb; we both enjoyed it, although the potatoes that came with it were a little bland. I ordered the linguine pescatore with spicy red sauce; it tasted gross to me. The various shellfish in the dish had really weird tastes, as though they had stored the shellfish in the fridge with other foods and it had absorbed the smells around it. Take your chances with this place. I probably won't go there again.

Very good Italian food, much better that chains like Carrabba's and the like. The food is fresh and well-prepared, and the service is excellent. They have a good kid's menu, and a very nice wine list. It gets busy here, so definitely make a reservation if you want to eat during peak hours.
