If you're spending a night or two in downtown Las Vegas, this old school hotel is perfectly located, with the casino opening right onto upper Fremont Street. No resort fee (but you will have to pay for internet), rooms in the $40s-$50s (get the Rush or Spa tower for upgraded decor), and the famous Tank pool (involving a waterslide that passes through their shark tank) make it a fun, affordable stay.
Ms.. Rates are very reasonable for a 4 star hotel. The rooms was very big and clean. The room service is slow to say the least but the food was acceptable. I recommend Zax restaurant for dinner it was very very good. Stefano's was terrible! The service was spotty. They were more worried about singing and the food was below average. I would not recommend this restaurant!
Worth the 4 stars. This was our first time in Vegas, quite frankly I was scared about staying in the 'old strip.' But the Golden Nugget received a AAA 4 Diamond Award, so I decided to give it a try. For the money, compared with other pricey Strip rooms it is a great value. The buffet was very good, the atmosphere was very clean and opulent. The shows there were also top notch for being off the strip. We found that a lot of money can be saved by taking the bus up to the New Strip instead of cabbing it everywhere, it is conveniently located by the hotel.
the best there is!!!. it does'nt get any better than this, i think this place is just the best.
The Jewel of Downtown.
With the emergence of the major strip 'themed' casinos, the downtown area in general has become an overlooked step child. This hotel is no exception. Although it does not have the theme and the notoriaty as do many of the major strip casinos, it is an excellent value. The staff are courteous, the restaurants very good, and the gambling is very affordable. As far as the downtown area in general, I stay there approximately 1/2 of the time that I am in Las Vegas. You get a lot more bang for you buck and can easily walk from joint to joint without wearing holes in your shoes.
Try it the next time you are in Vegas for a quick weekend. I think you'll find it very enjoyable.
Mullets galore. Not the highest class place on the Strip, but it sure is fun! Pure kitsch, free bingo with stay and motel parking right in front of your room. The pool is in the parking lot, and the Nugget is right next door to Slots of Fun for all of my fellow nickel addicts.
