Great school for students who learn differently. My daughter graduated from New Horizons Academy High School in June 2008. The teachers and counselor surpassed all expectations; they are talented, experienced and really know how to reach kids who learn differently, who are often especially challenging as teens. After unsuccessful experiences in private, magnet and public schools I was beginning to wonder if my child would ever complete high school. The staff at New Horizons Academy embraced my child, encouraged her, rode out her good and bad days and focused what was truly important. They truly "got" her, helped her feel comfortable with herself and gain confidence. She found the motivation to complete her courses, pass the Nevada Proficiency exams, apply to college and gain acceptance. It you are a parent considering New Horizons, do not be discouraged by the un-glamorous facility. It is a top-notch school where your child will receive individualized attention from selfless, outstanding professionals.

New Horizons Academy is a special place for special kids. New Horizons Academy can be a wonderful place for kids with learning challenges. I know since my son has been attending this school for 4 years. Many of the kids at NHA have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, dylexia or some other learning disability. The school facility is a bit outdated and is somewhat limited, but the teachers sure make up for the physical plant shortcomings. The teachers are caring and dedicated, as many of the teachers have been there for 5 or more years. These teachers are there because they love the kids, and you can tell! The administration is concerned and involved as well. I am very happy that my son has a place where he can go to learn, be nurtured and succeed. If your child has a learning disability and has been unsuccessful at other schools, you should definitely consider a tour/visit to NHA.

take their four stars away!!!!!. I just heard from another friend that three teachers had the same treatment there at New Horizons and they were very upset and either left or they were terminated, what kind of school is this? It doesn't seem like a reputable one. I will be sure to tell everyone not to enlist their kids there.

The worst school I know. This school has the worst faculty, staff, and students in the world: I would not recomend this school to anyone, they are the worst school and made me feel very unwelcome, and the teenagers are very defiant, gossipy, insinuating, and rude.

for a grade I give the school an F- or a big fat zero
