In Short – Founded in Oregon circa 1953, this simply-furnished spot owes its success to its creative menu and fresh ingredients. Batters are made on the premises; a special "sourdough starter" keeps treats from tasting overly sweet. Patrons choose from eggs, waffles, crepes and oven-baked omelets, as well as signature plates like blueberry pancakes (served with or without compote), giant cinnamon-glazed apple pancakes, thin and chewy "49-ers" and the air-filled, lemon-and-sugar-topped "Dutch Baby."

Best Breakfast in Town!

by tennisismybag

No wonder they win all the awards- James Beard, Zagat, Consumer Reports! Unheard of for a breakfast restaurant. So I had to try it, now I am hooked! The German Pancake is to DIE for and so is the bacon. Everyone else says they fresh sqeeze the OJ, but OPH really does! It's full of pulp and delicious. I am done with the rest!

You HAVE to try it! It's soooooo worth the wait.

  • Pros: Delicious food, great service
  • Cons: Have to wait in line

Smaller Pancakes but price goes up

by Kevin50

I use to love going to the OPH, not so any more. I order always the Bacon Lovers. This last visit, I tried once again the Charleston & Decatur location. It is a very noisy location. We tried all the other locations and like them better for that reason, until yesterday.

I complained about the side of pancakes that accompany the "Bacon Lovers," Breakfast. This time they were much smaller than usual. I complained. I was told all the other locations are making theirs to big.

That was my last time visiting them. I get so tired of people charging more, and decreasing the amount of food.

  • Pros: fairly pleasant
  • Cons: very noisey

Since when did "HUGE" become the best selling point?

by wonderwho

I've eaten at other OPHs, and it is a very good chain, I will definitely admit that (I love the Swedish pancakes). But since when did having HUGE food become the most desireable thing, more than good service and atmosphere? There enough fat Americans without getting excited about a place that insults you and makes you wait forever, just because you can get a huge serving of super-processed carbohydrates and fake maple syrup (yes, it's fake--maybe a touch of real stuff thrown in, but no way is this all real). Who really needs an omlet this big?? (A family of 4?) The terrible service far out-weighs the good here (even if you simply total up the weight of your meal), and i just can't recommend it. Try OPH someplace else, it's definitely worth it, but just NOT in Las Vegas.

  • Pros: Delicious pancakes, esp Swedish & Apple
  • Cons: Terrible service and super deathly high-fat menu. No kids--wait is too long.
