Tips for El Burrito Mexican Restaurant

January 17, 2013

How can you not love a family owned restaurant? As a native of Las Vegas I find it hard to find a tasty, environmentally friendly, locally owned spot. My family and I adore this place! Great bar and amazing food. Green chili and the house soup area a must!! YUMMMMY!

El Burrito. Their food is the best Mexican food in Las Vegas. Every time I eat there I can expect the delicious house soup along with sizzling fajitas (which to my surprise had no fat). The employees are extremely friendly and treat you like family every time you walk in the door. I have never had a problem there except for the time that some idiot was screaming about a coupon policy. He was yelling and cursing at the top of his lungs at the owner for no reason. Other than that every experience I have there has been great. Its food and environment is authentic, and fantastic for large parties. Highly recommendable.

Ripped off by El Burrito!. We have been long time customers of this restaurant. We used a "take $10 off a $40 check" coupon from the Entertainment Book. When our bill came, they added a $10 "gratuity" and then took $10 off. (we had 5 people in our group) Wow..when we asked why they had taken the liberty of adding a tip..they said that if we were going to use a coupon, that was the rule! THIS WAS NOT ON THE COUPON. The coupon does state a guideline for tipping, but no mention of a mandatory $10 add-on. The owner was abrasive when we (politely) asked where the coupon stated a mandatory $10 add-on to the bill. He stated that those were the rules, and if we didn't like it, we weren't welcome to dine there anymore. (!) It was very upsetting to be treated with such disdain in front of our young children. It would have been ok to say "sorry if there was a misunderstanding..etc...", then we would have been bummed, but paid with no other protest. Instead, the owner was flippant from the get-go, and in this economy, this rude man lost regular diners. I have NEVER been treated with such disrespect by someone we were paying nearly $100 to patronize his business.

If you dine at El Burrito, bring cash so that you only pay for the food that you order. We paid with credit, which is necessitating a protest of the charge through our bank account. Ask your server or the owner what all of his add-ons, extras and nickel and dime charges add up to. Or, ask him to point out where in his restaurant, menu or coupon these charges are printed. Better yet, save yourself the grief and dine somewhere else in Summerlin that appreciates your patronage. Good luck! A Summerlin mom and attorney.

Nickel and dimed. Gouged by absentminded employees at el Burrito. What to expect at El Burrito. from a man and his wife who spent ten years in san diego and know all kinds of good Mexican food.

My experience ?eating in?

Servers are immature inattentive smug and basically not there with the exception of one very nice middle aged lady who seems out of place on account of her niceness. Food is generally inconsistent. Portions are very small and extremely expensive for mexican food. The previous two times my wife and I sat down and ate, our food came to us cold.

My experience ?to go?

Expect to ad an average of $10 to your order if you make the mistake of ordering take out. I was told salsa was free but was charged $4.75 because I was eating out. Customers are also charged $0.50 per take out container which in most cases is a piece of tin foil wrapped around your order. Also watch out for take out charges and of corse expensive inaccurate charges.

I do agree at one time El Burrito was a great restaurant. Sadly those days are over. Prices have gone way up while quality has plummeted. After four years and countless last chances, my wife and I will not be eating at El Burrito anymore.

The best Mexican food in town with killer margaritas!. El Burrito is truly the best Mexican food in town with "killer" margaritas! They offer an extensive variety of foods on their menu, along with daily specials, and also offer American food favorites as well. Try one of their margaritas or mixed drinks, you won't be disappointed. The staff is also very helpful and friendly. This restaurant is definitely "family friendly".
