Great Hawaiian Style Cantonese food.
We have been to Wo Fat several times. It's a great family style place that has many of the foods that I grew up with. Kau Yuk (barbeque pork belly) with the bun, is fantastic. I hadn't had it since I was a kid. They have choi sum (leafy greens) in oyster sauce and Abalone. My kids love the Crispy Gau Gee the best. We have had Gau Gee at several restaurants in Vegas, and they definitely have the best. The Cake Style noodles are fantastic.
If you are looking for Americanized Chinese, this is not the place for you. If you want to stretch your palate, then this is the place for you.
Not the greatest Chinese I've ever had. I'm a native New Yorker so Chinese food practically flows in my veins . I was disappointed and would not go back. If you're used to really good New York style Chinese then this isn't the place.
Go East, young man (or woman) and find the treasures of Cantonese cuisine in a nondescript shopping center..
In Short
Hong Kong-style seafood is one of the many attractions in this unassuming and quite friendly neighborhood restaurant, which specializes in squid with ham ha sauce, steamed and deep-fried fish (usually pomfet, rockfish or flounder), exquisite potstickers and a rich and savory won ton soup that refuses to be taken for granted. The lunch specials are a steal.
BEST HAWAIIAN STYLE CHINESE. Wo Fat was closed due to a fire next door. They re-opened earlier this year, finally! Chinese food in Hawaii is much tastier than Chinese here. The owners were cooks in at a popular Chinese restaurant in Hawaii. My favorites at Wo Fat are Rainbow soup, Hawaiian style Chow Fun, Cold Ginger Chicken, Eggplant with Minced Pork, and Spicy Shrimp.
