Tips for Siena Deli & Restaurant

Used to be good. This place has been going downhill for a while now. Don't know about the new owners, but staff is obviously not happy, and customer service is suffering. I'll continue buying certain foods to take home, but for what you pay for lunch or dinner, it's not worth it to stay and eat. Food quality is getting worse, and the employees don't seem to care about getting your order right, or out to you in a decent amount of time. Why waste money on tipping for a bad experience?

ok food, lousy staff??. As a customer, I quit going there, not because of the food, but because of the staff as well. However, Lilly is wrong about the staff being "incompetent". If she had been there more than three times and before the new owners took over, she would see the root of the problems. It is the new management. The staff have been there longer than the new owners... they do their job- which is doing what they are told. There are new systems, and rules in the restaurant. If you ask me, they're taking Italy out of it and commercializing it into a better tasting Olive Garden. The staff have been dwindling down in numbers and being replaced with newer people. You can tell the staff no longer love thier jobs or are bright and cherry like they used to be... most of them quit due to being tired of the disrespect they've been receiving from the management. I stopped going to the restaurant due to the changes there. Even the food is starting to taste like Chef-boy-ardee. The waiter (whom I also heard was a manager), was the worst service I received... I sat their waiting for my food, and watched him while he was standing there talking to people and drinking wine. I was not the only person waiting on food. Eventually someone from the deli came out with my food and had to apologize for the wait. It should have been the lazy waiter that was apolojising to me!! I left a tip for the kid who brought my food out, and I watched the waiter come to take my plate- and take the tip and put it in his pocket. I doubt the boy ever got his tip. The owners don't really seem to be knowing what they're doing there either... and I have no interest in returning until someone else takes over, they get a new waiter (someone who is there to actually work!)- and knows what they're doing and keeps the place truly Italian.

Its pretty sad I'm definitely not the only one who has decided this too... their business is slowing way down, I doubt they're going to make it past March 2009.

OK food, lousy staff. Today was my last visit to Siena. I have been there three times, and although the food is better than the norm around here, the staff ranges from incompetent to downright obnoxious. If this place was in NY, they would be out of business in a week.

Come for the groceries, stay for the sandwiches.. In Short
Forget the Olive Garden. This is where Las Vegas' Italians shop and eat. It's not exactly Little Italy--the location in a shopping center anchored by a Raley's prevents too much ambiance. Still, the tiny store offers a solid variety of deli meats and cheeses, a limited menu and some seating for a quick snack. There's also a respectable selection of Italian products, including some magazines and movies.
