In Short
Designed to feel like a 19th-century theater, this venue features a balcony section that directly overlooks the stage: no binoculars required here. The stage and seating feel intimate, almost clubby, and the sound is excellent. With its steady mix of top rock and blues bands, the HOB runs the musical gamut, from Etta James and Al Green to Yellowcard. A full-service restaurant filled with Southern specialties and a piped-in R&B playlist completes the experience.

The food was good and I enjoyed the gentle, dark, yet colorful ambience for a relaxing lunch/dinner. I had a chicken patty on noodles with capers in a lemon-olive oil sauce. It was the perfect portion, flavorful, and deliscious and I normally don't even like lemon flavored foods. My husband enjoyed his dish, too. I would recommend it.

I was staying in Mandalay Bay last week so I went there with my girlfriend for dinner. We liked the atmosphere in the restaurant but we were both very disappointed with the food. I ordered this shrimp pasta dish and the quality reminded me of eating at Chilli's or Bennigan's. My girlfriend didn't like her food either. One thing I should mention is that the service was really good. I guess if you're stuck in a Casino and don't feel like walking too far for food, check this place out.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! July 2006 My 40th birthday should have been at blast, but the House of Blues in the Mandalay Hotel in Las Vegas, managed to destroy it. First off, they knew a party of 6 would be arriving (called a week ahead) and tried to stick all 6 of us in a booth. Ridiculous! So after much discussion and waiting, they seated us at a table. We also waited a long time before the waitress came and took our orders for drinks, appetizers, and then dinner. They were not very busy either. Their version of a margarita also was not good; it had an odd taste and was bitter. The second traditional margarita tasted better. My husband and I had the catfish fish and chips after the waitress highly recommend it, Blah. It was not good and I only ate one with a lot of tarter sauce. The chocolate cake with chocolate frosting that arrived with a birthday candle was the only food that was good and moist. The unquie folk art is what kept our attention occupied between the long waits of the appetizers, drinks, and dinner. Not friendly either. Boo! 2 thumbs down times 6 people. After dinner, we went to the nightclub side to see the Prince Tribute band "Purple Reign", who was awesome. As a surprise my friend reserved a table for $150, which was placed in the back of the dance floor directly in front of the band's audio mixer. My friend was clearly upset. People seated at the tables in the front near the band had NO reservations, we found out. The manager did nothing to correct the situation except to offer a measly $25 off the price. The gratuity for the reserved table was included in the reserved table. HOB tacked on a hefty gratuity to my bar tab and without my approval, added my other friend's tabs. It was a mess that never was fixed. Management and security rudely pushed us out at closing. We dropped over $700 here that night. House of Blues, you, truly are in the BLUES!
