Editorial Review for Luxor Steakhouse – by Mary Morley
In Short
The steakhouse inside the Luxor isn't the newest or hottest restaurant on The Strip, but that's part of the appeal: quality food without the attitude. The spacious dining room is decorated with polished cherry-wood paneling and rich upholstery, with warm-toned Egyptian-themed frescos on some walls. The menu features appetizers such as Alaskan crab cocktail, a range of seafood and aged beef cuts as entrees, and decadent desserts like the vanilla bean crème brulee.

My husband and I had dinner there last weekend. The food was excellent but the service was OK. I would have expected more from a restaurant like that. I think our waiter assumed we wouldn't tip well since we looked young. Took FOREVER to get my soda refilled and was surprised to find they charge for refills(the glasses are teeny tiny and they fill them with ice to the top!). If I would have known they charge for refills I wouldn't have asked for one. If you do plan on getting a beverage with dinner, make sure you ask for no ice! :) We were also seated right by a noisy private room. The steak was the best I ever had. The soup was phenomenal! I might go back if I ever go to Vegas again, but I will have to make sure I look a lot older and dress flashier :) :)
Pros: Great steak and soup
Cons: slow service and was next to a noisy private room

First off, we made reservations and were seated by the kitchen entrance. The restaurant was not busy... yet we were seated in a place with more traffic the craps tables. Lesson # 1... don't make reservations, you get treated worse. Second... I ordered a well done steak (I know... a travesty!) and it was still bleeding when I cut in to it. Not the end of the world, as long as it's fixed without a fuss. No such luck! I let the waiter's assistant know that it wasn't cooked properly, he apologized and went to get the waiter. The waiter walked up to the table and asked me, "What's the problem?". I explained that the steak was undercooked. He whipped the steak from the table, turned, and left. No apologies... nothing! And the final straw... The food wasn't outstanding. I can get a better steak in Seattle!
Pros: um... none
Cons: bad service
