It's not Vegas until you Hit a Memphis Championship BBQ. IF I ONLY HAD $8 TO SPEND IN VEGAS AND WANTED TO MAKE IT LAST. I WOULD HEAD TO MEMPHIS BBQ. Yes, it is worth shouting about!!!! My husband and I stumbled upon a Memphis championship BBQ and made the mistake of ordering some Onion Straws, BBQ Nachos(My personal favorite) and a King sandwich each the first time we went. We had enough food for a week and believe you we can eat. After making Pigs of ourselves(no pun intended) we bought the left overs back to our suite then on to New Jersey when vacation time was over. We did eat for a week and the food was as delicious on night 5 as night one. Maybe better. DON'T MISS THIS ONE. BUDGET FRIENDLY, DELICIOUS BEYOND YUMMY, AND GREAT FREINDLY STAFF TO MAKE IT EVEN BETTER. Over the years they have added call ahead take out, drive thru and flat screens in a small cozy sports bar area. Memphis championship BBQ ROCKS
Good Southern Bar B-Q. We come from Bar BQ country and never expected to find a good Bar BQ restaurant in Las Vegas, well surprise, surprise. Two of my friends at home are champion’s of the legendary Memphis in May Bar BQ championships and they could not prepare any better food than we had at this Las Vegas eatery. The service was excellent, the food was good, the bill was reasonable, what else could you ask for? We will be back, on our next trip out to Las Vegas.
Ordinary.
12/10 My wife again receive a buy one, get one coupon in recognition of her birthday so she ordered a full rack of baby back ribs while I ordered pork shoulder. The ribs were overdone and the pork shoulder lacked flavor. The sides were hit and miss: potato salad (too much mayo), baked beans (excellent) and mac and cheese (fair). We are going to take a pass on this offer in the future.
12/09 This small chain of BBQ restaurants is considered by many to be the best Las Vegas has to offer. My wife received a 2/1 coupon valued up to $20 shortly before we departed from home. This one did not require the purchase of an equal or greater value entree so I chose one of the least expensive meals, pork shoulder, while she ordered a rack of babyback ribs. Mine was bland so I added copious amounts of BBQ sauce. The ribs were very meaty, flavorful , but the 2 sides that come with each order can be nasty. We were disappointed in our macaroni and cheese, green beans (right out of a can), collared greens (ugly) and red beans and rice (okay).
Best barbecue in Vegas. the baby-back ribs are amazing as is their barbecue sauce. The sauce has a vinegar base to it, so if you like the really sweet stuff, this may not be for you, but it's definitely worth a try. The brisket is very good most of the time - tender and moist, but there have been a small number of occasions when it was a little tough and dry. The sides are always great. Prices are lower than Lucille's, the food is better, and you get more for your money.
The best. Eaten there for years now, never had bad food. A couple of times the service has been slow, but usually it is top notch. We have used them for catering and group functions, and were always happy. My favorite is the King sandwich with extra cole slaw.
Beware the hype!. I have tried this place and the other locations over the years and I have yet to have a good piece of barbeque at any of their locations in Vegas. I recently had a good meal at Buzz and great barbeque at TC's Rib Crib. I read that Memphis was the real deal because they had a smoker. So I gave it one more try and what I got was-dry-thin-slightly warm meat and this was their "porterhouse of ribs". Never again! The ribs at TC's were juicy, meaty, and with plenty of flavor. Beware the hype!
Honest to goodness BBQ exceptionally well done..
By far the best BBQ in Las Vegas and some of the best on the planet. The pulled pork and the ribs are beyond compare. The baked beans are the best I've ever tasted. Not Texas or KC style - it's dry rub Q slow smoked. The desserts are a little weak (although pecan pie is good), but by the time you get to dessert you're too full to even contemplate them. Nobody ever walks out of this place hungry.
Fried pickles are good and crisp as well as unique. The pork is the star here, however. Ribs, pulled, pork steak, whatever, the pork is the way to go. The other stuff is good, but if you don't have ribs or pulled pork you'll kick yourself.
I Like their bbq. It is real southern style BBQ. And the slaw is just like back home. It is a vinegar base and it is served on top of the BBQ sandwich. On an earlier review the writer complained that it was memphis/texas style. Duh. Hence the name Memphis BBQ. As for the sides - they are sometimes good and sometimes not so good. I love the baked sweet potato. And the creamed corn is really just that corn in a sauce made with real cream. I usually get the bbq beef or pork sandwich. I usually have to take half of it home. Their pecan pie is pretty good too.
Pretty Darn Good BBQ for Las Vegas. Well, as far as BBQ places go in Las Vegas, this one is by far the best. Their sausage link was delicious and the brisket was tender and flavorful. The choice of sauces was pretty good as well. The sides are always iffy and you just have to pick and choose. I would eat here again although only on pay day as they are a little pricey. However, most BBQ places are expensive due to the high cost of meat. Someone mentioned eating at Famous Daves....DO NOT waste your time. That place ranks right up there with the Salt Lick in just plain ol' bad food. And you most definately do not get your money's worth. Memphis Championship BBQ is, in my opinion, the best that Las Vegas has to offer but certainly not "the best" ever.
If you want good bbq, this is not the place. Heard many good things about this place but turned out to be very disappointing. As previous writer had mentioned cole slaw is very vinegary and besides that not much flavor. Ordered combo of beef brisket and 1/2 smoked/bbq chicken. The chicken was actually pretty good .. nice smokey flavor and very tender meat which slid off the bone. The beef brisket on the other hand was horrible! It was very tough and fatty and also lacked any flavor. Had rice pilaf for a side and it tasted sour like they used the coleslaw dressing on it! Service was slightly above average but nothing special, at least the server noticed that I didn't eat the beef brisket to take it off of the bill. I would recommend Buckingham Smokehouse BBQ or even Famous Daves (chain restaraunt) over this place. I haven't been to Lucile's but have heard they are very good. Take my advice and go elsewhere for bbq that will be worth spending your money!
