I signed up with AHS six years ago and everything was fine. The company was sold or changed their name to Protection One. That's when everything went downhill. I moved out of state and canceled my service in writing. On the same notice I gave them my new address for the final bill. Well...I kept getting the final bill for service that should have been disconnected. When I questioned how they made the address change but did not disconnect service, they said they never got the request in writing. How else would they have my new address??? I tried to split it with them and paid for a few months, but they would not waive the remaining $27. Sooooo...for $27 they have lost my business (I am now back in Vegas and will NEVER use them again) nor will I ever recommend them to any one. I hope their happy.....
Unmonitored Security is no Security!

Successfully, we used this company (American Home Security) for five years in Las Vegas. Recently, we moved to Pahrump. This company, now named Protection One, agreed to move contract to Pahrump. They verified the existing phone service in Pahrump was compatible with the system. New equipment was poorly installed, leaving multiple "missed" drill holes in the wall and ceiling. The system has never worked. Upon completion of installation, the installer alerted us although it was installed it would not be monitored as there was no communication. I had to draw his attention to the uncovered/unpainted holes in the wall and ceiling. He filled one with spakle but it did not dry to match the paint. The other two he left unfilled, unpainted and denied he had done the one in the ceiling. I had visually watched him do it! With that, he left.
The new name of American Home Security is Protection One. They agreed to credit back all charges and cancel out contract without penalty. After more than a month no action has been taken on my credit card, except they continue to charge monthly monitoring. We have no monitoring. I asked them to remove all equipment but they chose to leave it. I continue to pursue refunding all charges, but discourage anybody from using this company.

I paid thousands of dollars last year to get a state of the art system installed. Negotiated a one year contract--told the salesman we were moving out within several months, selling the house within one year--no chance of extending. Paid all installation and subscription fees upfront--believing we would be relieved of all further obligation. System failed immediately after installation. Constant beeping from control panel, notification of back up failure, etc. Multiple failed attempts by tech. support to correct the problem. No money back guarentee. Problem never fixed. Now, one year later, I am told that I must pay an additional 6 month penalty because I failed to cancel the policy 30 days before rolling into the next year. Never even an apology!!
