I got into an ACE cab at McCarran airport; sign inside said “CASH ONLY”. I told driver "Dave" (cab #2487) about comparing cab fares to rental car; fairly comparable so I went with cab. Driver then talked about how meter fares had recently gone up and that online estimates were not yet updated. He prepared me to be "shocked" upon arrival. I was; he charged me $95.90 plus a reasonable tip. I did not know at that time that I was a victim of a criminal act. After talking to other conference attendees they paid $35-$68 plus tips. Other online reviews report similar swindles from ACE drivers. Some said that the company had satisfactorily resolved their issues. I’ve left 2 msg and haven’t heard anything yet. I will change my ratings if MY issued is resolved.
Jason Wang is a Crook but Ace Cab took care of overcharge.
I got Ripped off by Jason Wang .
Took taxi driven by Jason Wang from Mandalay Bay to East Side Cannery. I was driven the long way to hotel with a charge of $59.90. All the way there, Mr Wang complained about the local Vegas drivers and how rude they were, being he is from Los Angeles, CA. Our return cab fare was $29.10, showing an over charge of $30.80.
Ace Cab Did return my phone call and Did refund the difference of the over charge. . I requested that a disciplinary fine be placed on Jason Wang. I changed my rating from 1 star to 3 stars because of the refund however Jason Wang was in the employ of Ace Taxi and represented them as such..
Watch out for Jason Wang. He is someone that can make all taxi drivers look like crooks.
I got ripped off. I traveled to Vegas and on my return to the airport I got an Ace Cab at the Palazzo where I was staying. I was there with 2 other couples, and since there were too many people and too much luggage, we ended up in separate cabs. I instructed the driver to take the short route to the airport (there are two ways to go and the short one is half the cost) but he informed me that there was construction on that route and we would be stuck in traffic if we went that way. I trusted him, and the trip to the airport cost me over $30.00. Upon checking with the other couples who I was traveling home with, I found out that their driver took the short route...they actually arrived at the airport before me even though their cab left after mine, and their trip was only $17.00. My driver ripped me off. I called the company to complain and was told that a supervisor would get back to me, but no one has called. Don't use this company!
Dependable service, nice driver.
In the 25 years, I've lived in Las Vegas, today was the first day I actually used a cab. I needed to go to a doctor's office for an outpatient procedure and would not have been able to drive home. I arrived by cab and a friend would be picking me up.
The day before, I called Ace Cab and arranged a set time for pickup. The lady I spoke to, Denise, was friendly and professional. Denise couldn't give me an estimated amount of the trip butr she did tell me the rates.
My cab was supposed to be at my house at 6am. He arrived approximately 5 minutes before the time, which I appreciated. Most important; his cab was clean. When I told him the address, he verbally told me the route he'd be taking. This I appreciated as I've heard stories about cabs longhauling. This driver was courteous and delightful to talk to. We weren't rushed and he obeyed the posted speed limit. All in all, a pleasant way to start the day.
NO THIS WAS THE CAB RIDE FROM HELL!.
This past Saturday my friend and I got into a cab to go to our hotel from the airport. The driver sped out the airport like a bat out of hell, he then proceeded to get on the freeway and drive at least 15-20 miles over the speed limit in rush hour traffic, ran up the back of cars, swerved in and out of of the traffic and acted out a road rage screen from a movie. He has locks in hair and acted like a Transmanian Devil.
If you see this guy think before you get in his cab!!.My friend and I got to our hotel, and I am so glad I am alive to tell this story so others can be warned.
End of my nightmare.
Ace Cab sends Quick and Reliable dispatch cabs!.
The other day I was in Las Vegas and needed a cab to the airport. I called the Ace cab dispatch and requested a cab, almost losing faith of catching my flight because I had waited too long, I hoped that Ace would be quick as the dispatcher said it would be. To my somewhat surprise, the cab arrived in just under 11 minutes, and the friendly driver took my mind off stressing about being late. I was happy to give the driver a nice tip, and made my flight with minutes to spare.
I hope that people read about my good experience here, because I know people often have to wait a longgg time when calling a cab in Vegas, but this company seems to have their system working well, and more than surpassed my expectations.
Thanks Ace Cab.
DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. The dispatchers will tell you that the cab will be there on time for your pick up and will not. Do not rely on this company if you need to be somewhere. They're ok if you flag the cab, but do not trust the dispatchers as they lie to you. They are rude and unreliable.
Long Time Cab Rider: IMPRESSED.Ace Cab saved me money.
I would just like to start out by saying that I have probably had every type of cab experience you could possibly have in this world. From having to practically jump from a (slow) moving cab in Chicago, to being in a New York Cab and almost hitting a person, to driving clear over curbs in Paris - I have seen the best and the worst of cab drivers, and also cab companies. If there is one thing I know, its that all companies, even the good ones, have some "sketchy" drivers. LAST time I was in Las Vegas, which was late last month, I took a cab ride from the airport to the Wynn. I was placed in an Ace cab, and the driver immediately ended his conversation on his cell phone, greeted me, and asked me where I wanted to go. He told me, "I can take you on the surface streets, which will take a little longer, but will be cheaper, or we can take the freeway, which will be faster, but will make the fare more expensive." At that point, I didn't really care, because I was comfortable with the fact that the driver had given me a choice, and I wasn't on edge wondering the whole ride if I'm getting ripped off (I was long-hauled in a Checker cab 6 months before).
To the reviewer "ywrmom":
AS for having that driver somehow adding a few dollars to the fare - any trip to or from any airport-owned property automatically adds $2.00 airport tax to the fare, which is out of the drivers hands. But in your case, if you really just went from Hotel to Hotel, and still got an extra charge... my advice is confront the driver. I have had only good experiences with Ace Cab myself, but no matter how strictly the drivers are trained, there will always be drivers who want to get a little extra, and most of the time you can call them out.
*Question the driver, why was that extra money added? chances are, if it wasn't a legitimate charge, he will remove it.
*Second - about the TIP money: Las Vegas cab drivers work a minimum 12 hour shift, with pay close to minimum wage, and pretty much only survive on tips, so if you don't ask for change, its not strange AT ALL for them to think you were just tipping them. Just as the #1 thing on your mind was your money, the #1 thing on his mind is probably his money.
***It doesn't seem like he really tried to rip you off, I just think you should speak up while you're still in the cab, rather than a week later on the internet. :)
Takes Your Money!. On a recent visit to Las Vegas with my mom, we had asked a cab driver (can't remember which company) an approximate fare from our hotel to another one on the Strip. That evening, we took an Ace Cab and as we pulled in to the hotel's driveway, I watched the meter rapidly change to where we were charged almost $1 for driving in the driveway! The fare came out to $2 more than what the other driver had quoted us earlier in the day AND the Ace Cab driver didn't bother to give me change but kept the change for his tip! Pretty nervy! We took a different cab back later that nite and were charged almost $3 less than Ace. (yes, same distance, same route)
ACE CAB is a RELIABLE and TRUSTWORTHY Company.
My fellow reviewers, as a resident of California, and a VERY frequent traveler to Las Vegas (at least once a month), I must say that it is HIGHLY apparent that you have had a rare experience if it was not enjoyable, and you ALL have obviously not used the other cab companies in the area.
Because of the fact that I take cabs in vegas so frequently, I had tried to give each different company a chance (or two - sometimes I have had a bad experience, but then it never happened again after that.) I admit, each company has their bad drivers, and trust me, those drivers aren't around for very long; but there are some companies who are CONSISTENTLY UNRELIABLE, and DEVIOUS. I have gone with NELLIS CAB CO at least 5 times, and EACH AND EVERY TIME, THEIR DRIVER LONG-HAULS me! A Long Haul is when the driver picks you up from the airport, and instead of taking the quick surface streets, he tells you its much faster to take the freeway and go around. DON'T LISTEN TO THIS!!! Taxi cab fares in Las Vegas are based on DISTANCE, not TIME - therefore, the driver may be telling the truth saying the freeway is faster, but that 2 minute difference sends your fare from about $15 (which it should be) to about $30. That driver just ripped you off, and made himself some extra money. I believe there is a big difference between a typical cab experience, which can be very uncomfortable at times, but that is just the nature of cabs; and when a driver DELIBERATELY rips you off, and makes you believe he (or she) was helping you out. Sorry for the length, but that is my point. I have used Ace Cab, along with other affiliated companies like Union and Vegas Western, and they ALWAYS ask me which route I would like to take, and they always tell me that the FREEWAY route WILL COST MORE. As for Whittlesea, Checker, Yellow, Desert, and Lucky/star, they are usually HIT or MISS - meaning I have had some rare good experiences, but it is rare for them to give me a choice in the path we take, and also rare for them to be conversational and pleasant. The Cabs are usually old, worn down, and
smell bad. NELLIS CAB IS THE WORST, I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH, DONT GO WITH THEM!!! All Cab companies have their faults, but ACE CAB always seems to be improving, changing their drivers, and vehicles. If you want a FAST, CLEAN, and COMFORTABLE ride, GO WITH ACE!!!
