I can only assume the food tastes as good as it looks. Unfortunately, after a 45 minute wait to be seated and another half hour for the food to reach the table, they got the order wrong. Then the waiter wanted to debate what was wrong about it! After a brief discussion with the manager we left without eating or paying. Needless to say, no one was very happy.
Hello, I am a 26 year old Vegas native and a veteran in the industry. Today I visited your establishment and was embarrassed. I am a concierge in the area and I have referred people to your karaoke bar for a fun time but never again. After visiting for myself I have witnessed first hand the extortion and "vegas mentality" that people complain about. What goes on is not only hurting your reputation and view from any local but is also illegal. The following is what I have posted on yelp, google, and my own facebook so you understand the severity of this problem. "Never go here. Went to the karaoke bar and the service was terrible. The people in the bar are mostly vagrants and degenerates. The security doesnt help, they only get tough to drunk guys and seem to be looking for a fight. The karaoke dj (travis) only lets you sing if you give him money. After our party repeatedly gave him cash in his giant blue cup he continually moved our names back and asked for more money. Its the shadiest of all shady in Las Vegas. I am a born and raised local and a local concierge. After my first visit I will make sure to inform every person that asks about Ellis island that they should never go here. The extortion of money to participate in karaoke and the extremely unsafe environment that guests are subjected to is not a situation i would ever suggest to anyone. Last but not least there were a ton of underage kids slamming shots in the karaoke bar that the Dj guy (travis) was hanging out with, seemed like his friends. Embarrassing for Las Vegas. HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL AND ILLEGAL.
Winning Ribs – Stepping into the Ellis Island casino is like stepping back in time. When you walk into their barbeque this also includes old time prices. There are no menus since they only serve two things; ribs and chicken. Where else in the world can you get an amazing half-rack of ribs with a ton of sides for only eight bucks? If that weren't great enough they also brew their own beer which is only $1.50 a glass.
Beware! This Las Vegas secret is no longer very secret so there can be a wait of an hour or more to get a table in the Ellis Island barbeque. But that just gives you time to play a few slots and sample their beers.
I plan on returning to Las Vegas solely to enjoy more Ellis Island ribs.
Best food off the Beaten Path – We came upon this old casino and 24/7 restaurant from the bellhop at the Bellagio where we were staying. We decided to walk here since it seemed very close....but much to my surprise it was a bit further but did not matter with a beautiful night and a cocktail in hand. As we approached the restaurant we laughed but as we entered and sat at a table....we were very amused and enjoyed the local atmosphere. The food was great and the drinks not watered down. Where can you go for $15.00 and have Steak and eggs, Shrimp scampi, two glasses of wine and a tall guy in purple sequins entertain you as you ate. We loved this place and will always put it on our agenda with our trips to Vegas.
BEST BEER IN THE LAND BAR NONE. BREWED ON SITE AND SO FRESH IT HAS A REAL HEAD ON IT. – Yea she's a crowded packed house whenever I have been in there and all the locals know why. It's the best bargain on good food 24/7. But thaats not the best thing going. I cant speak much of the payouts cept that the largest I have ever seen paid is here. Seriously counting for five minutes with security. This Karoke pro must not be a beer drinker. Too bad. Six taps brewed and chilled on site making this the best beer I have ever drank and I drink a LOT of beer. I would say it is the best in the land and only $1.00 for a 20oz glass now whats wrong with that??? Karoke boy must be expecting star search or something. Too bad he cant see why it is CROWDED. DRINK A BEER!!!!! drink ten. Seriousli I tried them all twice around and settled on the Pilsner for the next 4 and switched back to the light and it still was flavorfull. The Brewmaster Joe knows what he is doing. I cant wait to go back this month. BTY I walked out and got a cab back to the Mirage. So here's the deal. Get a Shrimp cocktail appitizer. Order a light beer and get in line for the Rib dinner. 5 course fallin off the plate for what I think &10.00. Ha! If you cant eat it all just order the steak special. $4.95. Drink More beer. Ask for a tour of the brewery. It is the cleanest micro brewery I have ever seen. So find Paris casino and directly behind it is a Grain Silo in this unimpressive buliding. Go inside and enjoy. Karoke...LOL Well,,,, some people paint. JOE brews beer. Life is short. Learn what beer should be.
I wasn't impressed – All of the reviews I've seen here are about the food specials, well I would like to address the karaoke, since everything I've read and heard says this place is the best karaoke in Vegas.
I live in Reno and when I decided to visit Las Vegas, everyone told me that Ellis Island was the best place to go for karaoke. I made it a top priority to visit there. I was disappointed from the moment I walked in. To start with hey didn't have Smirnoff Ice in the bar, which is mostly what I drink when I go to a bar. The karaoke selection and sound system were below average, as were most of the singers, and the wait to sing was way too long. There also didn't seem to be very good security in the bar to keep the scumbags away from the ladies. I did not feel very safe in this bar.
If this was the best karaoke Vegas has to offer - I'm glad I live in Reno where we have a great karaoke bar!
Steak Special is great! – Since I am single and don't want to spend 10.00 for a raw steak bought at the local overpriced grocery stores here in LV and then have to cook it and clean up the mess. When I crave a steak dinner at a great price I go to the Ellis Island Casino. I do not know what cut of meat it is that they serve on this special but it is a thick fillet cut looking piece of steak (although not really fillet mignon) and has always been juicy and flavorful everytime. Comes with Baked potato, Fresh sauteeed String beans, Salad For around 9.00 w/ soft drink and tip (yes. don't be cheap and not tip). Service is good but quite busy on some nights and may be a waiting list.
Editorial Review – Karaoke seven nights a week; microbrewery features lager, light, dark, amber and root beers.
Great food and prices – We make it a priority to come to Ellis Island a few times each trip because of the cheap drinks and food. We purchase a few American Casino Guides and each has coupons for 4 free drinks and 2/1 menu items. The best use for the 2/1 menu item coupon is either the $5.95 baby-back ribs with all the fixins. Large eaters can order the combo platter which adds a 1/2 BBQ chicken for only a $1 more. Lines tend to be long during prime time, but we put our name in and enjoy a free drink or two while we wait. Also note that a Metro Pizza outlet is located in Ellis and serves slices as well as full pizzas.
Everyone should have the 4.95 steak dinner at the El;lis Island restaurant. Salad. rolls, potato, green beans, steak. Just make sure they cook it enough.
