In Short – This coaster's dramatic roll, tuck and dive section of track simulates the jet-fighter barrel-roll maneuver made famous by Tom Cruise in "Top Gun." Riders experience the disorientation brought on by negative G-forces. The coaster, which tops out with a 20-story initial inertial drop, also features a standard 90-degree loop, as well as the ubiquitous photo-while-riding that captures the screaming riders at their tossed-about finest.

Looks better than it rides

by rmh66

The Manhattan Express is a cool looking coaster from the street. I love the way it looks as it swooshes past the buildings on the NYNY. Unfortunately, riding the ME leaves a lot to be desired. First, the cars are extremely stiff and uncomfortable. The restraints take a lot of the fun out of the experience. The ride itself starts well enough, but gets painful and kind of boring toward the end. (Consider that I can ride the Desperado at Buffalo Bill's, and I'm calling *this* ride uncomfortable.) Finally, it's expensive to ride. When the car comes in, they sometimes offer a second ride for a discount. I think I usually take it, because it makes me think I spent less on the ride by averaging the two.

  • Pros: Looks great
  • Cons: Cars uncomfortable, pricey

An experience I'll never repeat

by jsterben

I was looking forward to riding this perhaps more than the rest of my Vegas trip in its entirety. What a disappointment. I've ridden roller coasters and other amusement attractions from coast to coast since I was 12, and not until this has a ride physically hurt me. Uncomfortable restraints and seats are very unforgiving on this unnecessarily rough and jostling ride. If you feel you MUST ride it, try to get a coupon to lower the price of admission--it certainly wasn't worth the $12 I paid. This attraction is the only blemish on an otherwise fantastic Vegas property.

  • Pros: short lines
  • Cons: uncomfortable cars
