Editorial Review for The Range Steakhouse – by Mary Morley

In Short
The most prominent feature of the expansive upper-floor restaurant/lounge is the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Strip. Polished wood and brass throughout the room create an elegant feel. Meals start with bread and apricot-basil butter and appetizers such as the cherrystone clams and capellini in garlic cream sauce. Entrees include steakhouse favorites and obscure choices like the sauteed calf liver with a balsamic glaze. Top off the meal with the chocolate- and peanut butter-infused cheesecake tower.

I have visited The Range at Harrah's at least once on every trip I make to Vegas. I have eaten practically everything on the menu and have never been let down. The last few times I have gone, I have stuck to the appetizers because they are quite big and VERY tasty. The lobster bisque, escargot, and seafood samplers are all spectacular. The service has always been friendly, polite, and classy. The restaurant also boasts a great view of Las Vegas blvd! Of course, I would highly recommend the steak as well. After all, it is a steakhouse.

Pros: Excellent service, Excellent food, Beautiful view

Cons: None

I was concerned about some of the reviews I have read in regards to The Range Steakhouse at Harrah’s. What’s the worst that could happen? We would never know if it was great, good, or bad unless we tried it for ourselves. We kept the reservation, and we are thrilled that we did. I can honestly say it was one of the best evenings and meals husband and I have had in Las Vegas. We love Delmonico and The Palm, and were less than thrilled with SW this past March. From the time we went up on the elevator straight through to dessert and coffee we just had the best time. We had a table at the window with a very nice view of LVB and the main entrance of The Forum Shops. We were started off with live music making its way from the lounge area. Heidi, the assistant to the table, started us off with drinks and bagel chips with salsa. Iced tea and water followed. Jim, our main waiter, was a pleasure. We were informed of the evening special. I had the Five Onion Soup for our appetizer and husband had the Lobster Bisque. Husband and I ordered the Double Cut Pork Loin Chops with house salads. I ordered the Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes for the table. We had the Flourless Chocolate Cake with Strawberries and Gelato for dessert and coffee. The host came to our table and we had a lively conversation about the south, including our accents. It was a great evening that I would have missed if I had gone solely on others opinions and reviews. The other patrons seem to be having as good of a time as we were. The room was not as loud as SW or Delmonico. I loved the lighting of the room and the curve of it. We will definitely have dinner again at The Range.

Pros: Service, View, Ambience

Upscale steakhouse at Harrah's provides quality meals without the hype associated with many nice restaurants on the strip.  See the full editorial review.
