In Short – Finally, a Mexican restaurant that dishes up far more than the usual expectations. This "Little Canyon" (offshoot of super Chef Stephen Pyles' Star Canyon downstairs) overlooks the Venetian's grand canal, and combines the upscale with Old Mexico charm. Even an ordinary chili relleno becomes spectacular when it's plucked fat and fresh, then stuffed with several cheeses, almonds and dried fruit. A simple empanada transforms when filled with marinated grilled wild mushrooms and cheese.

Service is HORRIBLE, food never came.

by wkrik

We went to the bar where there were only 4 other people. We placed our order of tacos and a quesadilas. The tacos came in 5 minutes from a waiter, not the bartender. I tried to ask the bartender where my food was but she was too busy, and we sat in front of the cash register. There was another bartender but he kept to the side doing his own thing and ignored everyone. The tacos arrived and my wife ate the first, then second, and still no quesadilas. Then she ate her 3rd taco, and still I didn't get my food. 25 minutes goes by, and still no quesadilas. I'm thinking, it's just cheese and tortillas, how hard is it. When my wife finished the plate and the bartender picked up her plate, I finally get to ask her, when is my food coming out, we were hoping to eat together. She goes to kitchen comes out, says "It will be right out". Then she goesand puts the order into the register. I'm thinking WTF. A couple sits next to us and asks for a beer, the bartender says they are out of that particular beer, and I tell the couple I've waited over 35 minutes for a quesadila and they're probably out of that too. The bartender gives me a dirty look. The couple responds, "They probably had to go to mexico to get it", and we both laugh. I tell another bartender, I want to cash out my bill. Just then the quesadila arrives, and I tell her "I don't want it we are leaving, take it back, you made me loose my appitite". I went over and talked to the manager on the way out and explained how with 6 customers at the bar and 2 bartenders, we were ignored, never checked on, and how my food never came in a timely manner, so we are leaving. He looked up, smiled, and said, "Well it is ready now, do you want it to go". There are sooooo many better places to eat. AVOID THIS PLACE!

  • Pros: Nice when they talk to you
  • Cons: Service, ignores customers, doesn't bring food

C'mon.... give me a break guy's!

Man, the previous two reviews were a 5 and 2-star. I guessed wrong by going with the 5-star review. Believe me, this food is bland! The guy that tried too emphasize that was right on. I went there having to been to other Mexican restaurants like "Lindo Michocan" (that got real good reviews) and expecting the best. I was wrong. The waiter was extremely nice and attentive. The ambient was nice as well. We ordered the guacamole. It tasted pretty good and they gave a decent amount I'll admit. We ordered the watermelon aguas fresca and it was a bit too sweet to be authentic, but it was ok. Too bad they don't give refills... I don't think they realize that 90% of hole-in-the-wall mexican joints treat aguas fresca as a given. No biggie though. Then the waiter (hispanic, as are we) told us about the menu items. They all sounded good, but he was quick to point out that there were certain things that he did not recommend to us(chile relleno is sweet, enchiladas are normal enchiladas..) but he said that their carne asada was outstanding. My wife chose the enchiladas anyways because he said they were nothing fancy, but they were good and she had a craving. I ordered the carne asada to see what these guys had to offer. It was $29 and their most expensive entree. Wow, it came out all fancy on top of some chilaquilles(mexican staple food) and my wifes plate looked delicious as well. The carne asada is really a new york steak style cut and has nothing to do with "carne asada, but it was real good.. small but good. Too bad that was were the fun stoped! My beans were sweet and the chilaquilles tasted like water soaked tortillas, both completely unauthentic. My wifes whole plate(beans, rice, and enchilladas) was a joke. All the food was bland. 2 people+tip= $71! Please, will not go back.I have tried other "higher class" Mexican joints atmospheres, but they did the great presentations PLUS outstanding food. This place does not! Trust me. Try something like Lindo Michocan. Good luck!

my favorite Mexican restaurant..

by pikake21

This is by far, my favorite Mexican restaurant. I have been here at least once for every visit that I have made to Las Vegas, to mark the completeness of my time spent in the desert :) I have brought several friends, and they are as pleased as I am. I remember my first time dining here, as someone at a nearby table attempted to order a chimichanga. The server said to me "this is Mexican SOUL food! None of that Taco Bell stuff..", and he was right. Everything here (from the fabulous choices of margarita, to the horchata and desserts), is SOOO finger-licking good. After one visit, I had finally had enough of being without my favorite horchata, and asked the chef for a recipe. Not only did he write it down for me, but he emailed it to me as well! As I'm writing this review, my mouth is watering..but I know that nothing in Seattle will compare to this food.

  • Pros: margaritas, horchata, service
