Convenient, one-stop shopping for those who want pieces with long shelf lives..
In Short
Epitomizing office casual wear, Banana Republic started out as a small vendor of safari-inspired clothing before it was purchased by the Gap in 1983. Since then, it has grown into a brand-name behemoth that one-ups the Gap in quality, status and price--but not necessarily creativity. The core of the collection is constant: versatile staples such as khakis, button-down shirts, denim, T-shirts and jackets in solid, organic colors. Lengths and fabrics change slightly according to the season. Some stores have expanded into bedding, fragrance, bath and beauty, and home-furnishing lines.

false promises.
While on my annual trip to lv I visited the store and found several things I had to have. One of the sales clerks came up to me and said I can get that handbag for you at 50% off, I was thrilled, so I spent at least a half hour choosing the color, then I picked out the matching wallet, a skirt and some cool sandals all to match the cool bag that was "50% off". When I got up to the counter to make my final purchases, I thanked him for the discount on the handbag, and he said - "do you have a Banana Republic card?" and I said "yes - I shop at BR quite often", he then said that he could not give me the discount. I was quite upset, I asked the manager if she would honor this and she said no as well. In a time where money is tight everywhere. I left my entire Banana Republic purchase on the counter (perhaps 600.00 or so) and walked out. I went across the street and bought a beautiful Prada bag from a very nice sales clerk at NM. The sad thing is, I like BR items, it is customer service that lost this sale and many more, I will shop elsewhere.
