Thieves Landing. Where it asks would I recommend this hotel to a friend, I must say absolutely, positively not. My very first night at the hotel, my father and I went down to the casino and the strip for a few hours starting at about 4 PM. I had brought enough money for me to be able to safely play for our three day trip, and I hid it in a book in my suitcase and placed that book under another book. I told my father out loud only in our room what I was doing in case I forgot where I had put the money. We returned at 10PM tired from the flight and our time in the casinos. The next morning, I went to replenish my money for the day, and I noticed that the books were reversed from what I had last left them. The wrong book was on top, and the money was gone. We searched the room and found no trace of the missing money. It is my opinion that it was an inside job and that some sort of listening device was placed in the room. Security came up to check and verify the report we made, and despite saying that ""these things tend to have a happy ending," nothing was done to either compensate or show that anything was actually being done. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, and I will personally never stay here again. My advice to travelers thinking about his hotel is to enter at your own risk. I only have an opinion of what happened, and based on my story, I will let you decide if you think I am right or wrong. The hotel and casino itself was not bad. The economy room reminds me of a slightly nicer courtyard by marriott, and the casino is about average size with normal games and several five dollar tables during the daytime. It would have been fine to have lost the money in the casino, but the fact that it was stolen out of my room made me spend most of my time elsewhere on the strip.…
RUDE. I reserved a room online and when we checked in and went to our room, we found cigarette butts in the ashtray and the bed messed up like someone had been sitting on it. I had ordered a non smoking room as I am allergic to smoke. I also ordered a king size bed and got 2 queen size. We go back to check in and tell them about it and the guy working was not going to give us a new room!!!! He was very rude and said we would not get a king size bed. We asked to speak to a manager. The guy came back and said we could change rooms. We got what I reserved online. On check out, we told the guy working and he made a note of it. Don't know if that would do any good or not. Beds were comfortable in the room and I have a hard time with beds. The casino was ok. It was good walking distance to anything else we wanted to see.…
Cool place to stay once....
My girlfriend wanted to stay at NYNY, so I booked. The price was pretty decent for the strip (100/nt). The rooms were ok, neat, clean but my GF kept complaining about the beds being uncomfortable.
There are a lot of cheap food choices here, but my fav was 9 Fine Irishmen. Irish pub with decent food, good beers, and excellent service. The waitresses' uniforms did not hurt either. Ben & Jerry's was convenient and great as always. Il Fornaio and America were decent, but better food could be had by walking to MGM or Monte Carlo. The only breakfast buffet was at Chin Chin, with an Asian twist.
NYNY was all over location. It's centered in the south strip, across the street from MGM and next door to Monte Carlo. Excalibur is across the street, but I only used it to pass through to Luxor and Mandalay Bay.
Next time I will definitely skip the spa services at NYNY. Their spa is small and overpriced for the amenities. Also, the guy on the men's side was kind of rude.…
Crowded - just like NY NY!. This property is very crowded, just like NYC. Also, if you are traveling with a group, be aware that the various towers are not easily accessible to each other. If you are visiting room to room, you will spend a lot of time on various elevators, etc. The pool is small and crowded. On the weekend, you'll be lucky to get a lounge chair and even luckier if you aren't bumping elbows with the person next to you. Wait staff service at the pool is lousy -- be prepared to get up and get it yourself. The piano bar is fun. If you want to be close to MGM and Mandalay Bay, this property is a good choice. If you want to spend time up the Strip at Bellagio, Caesar's, Wynn, Fashion Show, etc., wear walking shoes or plan to take taxis - it's a haul. The rooms are small and nothing spectacular. If you're staying here for price, try Mirage or Paris instead. Better location, better property, similar price.…
ESPN ZONE is Money. I reallly enjoyed that ESPN Zone they have there. I'm a big sports guy and if your looking for a place to crash and don't like to walk much this is the place. Right around the middle of the strip. Vegas is all about exploring so don't spend to much time at your hotel!…
