terrible. very dirty and food is not fresh the worst thai food i have ever had i will never go here again no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no! GO TO MCDONALDS BEFORE YOU GO HERE! HOW DO I GET THE AUTHORITIES TO RESEARCH THIS PLACE! THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN!!!!
usually quite good but sometimes.... I've been to Lotus of Siam several times and generally its quite good. Not quite as spectacular as the reviews would make it out to be but definitely good food. However, I haven't found it to be consistent as there have been a few times when the food was downright horrible. Perhaps those are the nights when the head chef is on leave? The wine list is impressive but there have been times when I've requested a bottle and they have told me that they have sold out which leads me to believe that a lot of the bottles they list don't exist on the premises. The service is courteous but nothing to write home about either. All in all, I keep coming back for the good food, which is about 80% of the time while 20% of the time it has been sub-par.
The Best Thai Food in the Country!.
This is the first restaurant I am taking the time to write a review for. I usually dont either because I am too lazy or the food does not merit any more of my time. However, LoS leaves me with no option but to write this.
I am somewhat of a foodie (usually on a budget) and extremely hard to please and very very opinionated when it comes to food (ask my wife!) but this is hands down the best Thai food (best food actually) in the US.
We had been there for our anniversary last weekend and my wife and I were blown away by the quality of food and the service. Both were A+ and after our first visit, we canceled all our other reservations in the fancier LV restaurants and readjusted our schedule to make sure we got our meals there.
While you wait for a table (yes - reservations would be a good idea), you can see reviews and awards right from 1998 - 2007 proclaiming it to be the best Thai food in the country. Two things stick out immediately -
1- They have been consistently awesome for over 9 years now and
2- The reviews come from places like NYT, LAT and other respected publications
We had the Tom Yum Noodle (its in the entree section), the Shrimp Pad Ped, Cat Fish Thai Basil, Shrimp red curry and Sea Bass Panang curry (that was over 2 meals :) and all of it was awesome. If I had to pick 1 with a gun to my head, it would be the Tom Yum Noodle.
Apparently the owner (Saipin Chutima) supervises the kitchen EVERY DAY and this dedication and love to her art reflects in the final product. That also is the reason they dont open restaurants in another city as she wants to be there when the food is being prepared.
We are not big gamblers but this restaurant would be the single biggest reason we go back to LV.
Yes - I have had Thai food in NY, SFO, Orlando, Chicago, DC etc..but this is the BEST THAI FOOD in the US.
Enjoy and yes - do leave some place for dessert!
Sooo Yummy. The food here is really good. One of the most authentic thai food. Service was real nice. Try the special menu.
looks may be decieving. this small family owned and run thai restaurant is set in a dingey plaza, but once you get past that you realize that the food is so outstanding and the value is phenomenal... besides having an extensive german reisling wine list, many notable celebs have dined here too, as the chef used to cater to the royal palace in thai land! a must try!!! we eat there at least once a month!
Authentic Thai dishes. I used to live in Las Vegas for a year. I was their frequent customer. They have great authentic Thai food. Their papaya salad is the best in the city. If you want to taste the real curry dishes or other spicy dishes, I would recommend to try this place out.
The best Thai food anywhere. Our highly anticipated return to this excellent Thai restaurant did not disappoint in the least. We started off with nam kao tod (sour sausage) - minced sour sausage mixed with green onion, fresh chili, ginger, peanut, crispy rice, herbs and lime juice incredible, my taste buds thought they died and went to heaven. We ordered level 8 on the heat scale which was not too bad. Our entrees were spicy jackfruit curry with chicken and fried catfish w/basil. We both felt the jackfruit (similar to artichoke hearts) was rather bland, but the curry and chicken were excellent. The fried catfish w/basil was probably the best Thai dish I have ever eaten. We shared a dish of coconut ice cream w/sticky rice and mango which was very good, but overpriced. As others have noted, the location and decor are not the best.
Family-run eatery offers gourmet Thai food in the Commercial Center..
Set amidst the karaoke bars and other Mexican and Asian eateries in the Commercial Center, the kitchen here is blazing with tasty Thai cuisine. A vast array of spices and ingredients--cilantro, fiery chilies, lime juice, lemon grass, Thai basil, curry, coconut cream--are combined with noodles, rice or fresh vegetables and a choice of meat or tofu to create authentic Thai dishes.
Avoid. I've been to Thialand on several occasions, and I think I know the food pretty well. When I order my dinner in Thai, I expect them to figure out that I've been there and make me real Thai food. I'll let you in on a little secret: Thai food isn't made with JALAPENOS! This place is supposed to be the best in town; not only according to Citysearch, but also Al Roker. How much did they have to pay to get this review? I make better Thai food from Tommy Tang's book then they do. Go to King & I. Avoid this ersatz-Thia place if you can.
The best kept secret in Las Vegas. As a restaurant, there is only one way to survive all the glamour of Las Vegas Strip and the millions of restaurants at all those fancy hotels on the strip: Excellence! and that is what Lotus of Siam is: Excellent! We found it on Zagat and tried to give it a try and were so happy we did. It was a small restaurant in a shopping center and at first I thought maybe we are at the wrong place but once we experienced the service and the food and the PRICES! we were just amazed. To see more than one bottle of Turley on the wine list for $65.00 we just could not believe it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! DONOT MISS IT!
