Editorial Review for Mimmo Ferraro's Restaurant – by John Curtas
In Short
Mimmo Ferraro's father, Gino, made a name for himself at this original location beginning in 1985; today the Ferraro influence stretches from one Vegas suburb to another. The upscale casual dining area features columns, foliage and a prominent wine cabinet. The restaurant's signature is the Milanese classic: Osso bucco--a "bone in the hole" veal shank served over thick, eggy noodles in a veal sauce. Other popular dishes include gnocchi, lamb chops and plenty of pastas.

Due to the reviews and overall look of the place, I gave it a try. The atmosphere is nice and settlingly. The waiter seemed nice at first. After looking through the extensive wine list, I asked the waiter for a wine suggestion. He seemed to look at me in disgust. Due to my age and his assumption of my finicial status, he asked what i could afford. This was the first insult as a customer. After selecting a less expensive bottle of wine, our service went down hill. After ordering a few appetizers, there was no acknowledgement of my presence. Only walking past me with disgruntled looks, the waiter sure was taking care of the other tables with what he felt was a " bigger bill, is a bigger tip" motto. I must say the asapargus wrapped in prosciutto was excellent, when it finally arrived. I will not take that away from this place. As for dinner, I ordered the restaurants so called, "special here" which was the lobster diavolo. A pasta served with lobster, shrimp, scallops and oysters over a white cream sauce. When my main dish arrived, I was shocked and amazed at the taste. It was as bland and tasteless as it gets. The serving size was fair, but the flavor was missing. The dish was missing key ingredients, spices. With a white cream sauce that tasted like milky water and no spice, this was dish was "no special here". On top of a disappointing presentation and taste, there was NO LOBSTER.. After being honest about the dish, and mentioning the missing lobster, the waiter simply shrugged, apologized, and then tried to convince me that the pieces of scallops he pointed to, were lobster chunks. this was the final insult, which ended this meal with one very unhappy customer. . Which goes to show, this place is not a 4 star restaurant, has some bad waiters on the clock, and the chef might be "special" himself for putting such food on a plate and calling it authentic italian.
Pros: Good appetizers, and wine list
Cons: Bad service, overpriced tasteless food, bad management for customer satisfaction.

What a disappointment. I took four friends to Ferraro’s on a Sunday evening after hearing wonderful things about their half-price wine Sunday’s. Ferraro’s easily has one of the best Italian wine lists in Vegas, but that’s all they’ve got. The food was extremely disappointing and so was the service; though it slightly improved when the server learned that one of my guests’ and I are both fine dinning servers on the Strip. If you’re going to enjoy a killer bottle of Italian wine Ferraro’s is great, just don’t order any food!
Pros: One of the best Italian wine lists in Vegas
Cons: Everything else
