Senior Dimensions. All the three skilled nursing homes are rated about a one. If you look at the comments people write. You wouldn't leave you cat there. Beware...Its ok if you are young and in good health. If you have a parent please be careful. Look for something else.

Senior Dimensions. This is a Medicare HMO Health Plan, part of Health Plan of Nevada. (HPN) They were recently purchased by United Health Care. Compared to other Medicare Health Advantage Plans I've had, their member co-pays are much less than others. (including United Health Care, which I had before) Their prescription plan has "No Donut Hole" meaning they will always pay off their formulary list and medication tier level with no stop point. . They have a formulary and medications not on it will not be covered without a special approval. Often, they will want you to utilize "step therapy" meaning use a less costly medication first. The negatives, you must see their approved provider, pick a primary Doctor in their network, and referrals for a specialist must be approved. Referrals are sometimes turned down and one should consider distance in seeing providers. A member residing in Pahrump for instance will have to drive to Las Vegas the majority of the time to see a Specialist or get diagnostic procedures (other than lab work) . This can be a challenge to those not able to travel. HPN also has a subsidary Southwest Medical; they will require you to go there for most referrals,. My fear, having been bought out by UHC this year, watch for increased co-pays and changes in medication avaliability (or more cost) in 2009. Members get this book prior to year end, read it closely and if you don't like what you see, shop for other Health Plans. The United Health Care Medicare HMO plan charges members more for co-pays and medication- and more for deductibles. Proposed members should get this vital information for 2009 before you join and if they stay the same or near it, Senior Dimensions is a good HMO to join. HMO's are not for everyone. If you want to choose your own physician, take medications your Doctor prescribes, and not have to obtain referrals for anything other than basic health care, this is not for you. HMO's, like most ,are profit driven managed Health Care Plans.
