BEST Independently Owned Book and Gift Store in Town!. This store has been in Las Vegas since 1993, and recently got new managment. What an improvement! It always had the basics, but now it is airy, light, soothing, and the selection of gifts is unbelievable. They are right across the street from a hospital (UMC) and have stuffed animals, new baby gifts, get well cards, health and wellness, grieving, Christianity (as well as other religions) plus sprituality and meditation. Their selection of 12 step recovery literatue, gifts and resources is the most comprehensive I have ever seen in one store, and what they don't have, they will special order for you. I had a cup of coffee and spent my time browsing...what a great experience. A job very well done.

Genesis Books. Starting in January, flyers for sales at GENESIS BOOKS had reached me via snail-mail and 12-step clubs. I was pleasantly surprized to find the ambience welcoming, peaceful and the staff knowledgeable AND helpful. Not at all surprized to find a new owner had recently taken over.

Reading is a passion of mine. Borders and Barnes and Noble folks know me, but I'll be visiting Genesis more often for several reasons:

While I was reading, another customer came in looking for recovery books. She was directed right to the specific book she wanted, found several other related ones, and was given a meeting list for the group in question; the staff will copy the meeting list you need for the 12 step group yo're interested upon request.

Extended hours are another plus: open til 7pm several nights a week.

Even the library may not have all the recovery books on tape or CD but this store has a good collection.

When the flyer announcing "Valentines Week Discount" arrived, I was pleased to see not only does the store now have a website, but online ordering from the Genesis website is available and encouraged.

Its rare to find a good stock of this many current recovery at the standard big book stores including the hard to find 2006 ACOA new Red Big Book and approved workbook.

Also new is the expanded selection of program Chips, now including enamel and metal.

And no where else in town except at 12-Step Conventions have I seen all the recovery and other positive quote mugs, tee shirts, cards, key rings, you name it.

Finally, to THIS reader, it just FEELS GOOD in there, which it didnt previously.
