In Short – The pedestrian mall of the Fremont Street Experience leads directly to the entrance of the Plaza. Entering the casino is like stepping back in time. Although you have to use bills, you can find dime, nickel and even penny slot machines. Shopping choices are limited to trinkets and beef jerky. The hotel supplies all the basic amenities, however, and while the rooms are unexceptional, the Plaza's location at the heart of downtown is certainly a bonus.
Not the best hotel experience

This hotel is okay. Cheap, but you get what you pay for. For me, while I'm on vacation I try not to spend too much time in my room so I'm just looking for a room where I can sleep comfortably and get ready for my day. Here are some of the problems I had with my stay at the Plaza Hotel and Casino in downtown Vegas: 1) The next room over was smoking out (can't use the 'p' word cause citysearch won't allow it), so I had to endure that while I went to sleep (it is one of the rooms where they are joined by a locked door), 2) out of the 6 elevators, only 2 were in operation. The other 4 were under repair, 3) Tried taking shower in the morning, but all I got nothing but steaming water - no cold water in the shower or bathroom sink. Called front desk and they said they will have someone fix it. 20 minutes later it was fixed, but I had to keep checking the water to see if it was fixed. Never got a call or contact from the hotel saying it was fixed. 4) You have to pay for parking but you can get it reimbursed at the cashier office only within 24hrs from the time you park.
Overall, the experience was not horrible, but not good either. I think the next time I will stay at the California or dish out the extra cash for a hotel on the strip. It's just that the circumstances of my trip, downtown Vegas hotel's was a better pick.
- Pros: cheap rooms, 1/2 lbs hot dog eatery place
- Cons: elevator issues, parking
DISGUSTING!!!
by jplscb4e
Caution to anyone thinking about staying at the Plaza Hotel. The entire place smells like backed up sewage. Only two elevators run so you wait FOREVER to get to your room. Once you get there, the nightmare continues. The blankets and sheets are threadbare and stained. The room stinks and the wallpaper is peeling off the walls. The carpet is dirty and stained. This place doesn't need updating, it needs to be bulldozed. I used hotelsdotcom to book the reservation so they wouldn't let me cancel on the night of my stay without charging me for the room. It was so bad that I paid to stay somewhere else anyway. Also, don't use hotelsdotcom to book anything. They lie and you can never get any sort of help from them in the event that you are having trouble.
- Pros: Absolutely nothing
- Cons: The horrible smell, the unfriendly staff, the disgusting rooms
Very nice place and a cool 50s style place to eat and a great afternoon show.

The Best Bingo in Las Vegas and 50s Style Restaurant (Best Breakfast Omlett) the cook has making omletts for 18 years and boy are they good. Don't forget to give him a tip. The afternoon stage show is great and very reasonable. We always have a good time here.
