In Short – Chef Andre Rochat converted this charming '30s-era family home in 1980 and has presented French country cooking in its intimate dining rooms ever since. The restaurant has an extremely loyal local following, which has included many of Vegas' movers and shakers. Appetizers include a caviar sampler and escargot in garlic butter. Main courses range from duck breast wrapped in hazelnut crust with orange sauce to rack of lamb with fragrant thyme jus.
Almost three decades later, Andre's is still fabulous.

Andre Rochat, Chef/Proprietor of Andre's French Restaurant, has been Las Vegas? marquis chef for decades -- long before all the big names from New York and Beverly Hills arrived on the scene. The original Andre's Restaurant is a 1980s renovated house in the downtown area. Almost three decades later, it is still fabulous.
Andre has now expanded to a namesake restaurant in the Monte Carlo and the eye popping Alize which is on top of The Palms. All are lovely. All are special. But, the Palms can be a bit too noisy for those of us who like their restaurants quiet. As such, we chose the original, which will be closing at the end of the year, but still brings fond memories. Andres at Monte Carlo is currently closed for renovation and will reopen early 2009.
Allyn?s Dover sole, the best she has ever had, was cooked to perfection with its juiciness and sauciness. I had a veal chop, which I normally associate with Italian food. However, this one was A+ and definitely had a French flair to it. The signature two pound lobster thermidor and foie gras also received rave reviews.

Andre's French Restaurant is The best fine dining experience one could enjoy. The food, service and atmosphere is absolutely superb. From the time you enter the restaurant, until you leave hours later, you are delighted in selections of fine food and wine. I'm happy to see that after coming to Andre's over the past years that the restaurant earned a Michelin Star.
Best restaurant in vegas!

My wife and I go here frequently. We have eaten at numerous other Strip restaurants (Fleur de Lys, Alex, Tableau, etc) and have only been to those places once. We keep coming back to Andre's. The rabbit and duck are fantastic, as are all of their desserts. Waitstaff is excellent. Sommelier is superb, as is the winelist. Only downside is that they may have a busboy or assistant waiter who is a bit new. First line people are all experienced. One of the big perks of this place is that it is about 30%-40% less than the strip restaurants for essentially the same experience (minus the glitz). We just ate at Alex and dropped $480 for two people with a $110 bottle of wine. One of the appetizers there was better than Andre's, but the entree and desserts were equal and the wine list was way overpriced. Expect at least a 400% markup on wines on the strip.
- Pros: Food, wine, service
- Cons: location is not so easy to find, have a good map
