In Short – An island-themed hotel and casino that's popular with Hawaiian tourists. Everyone seems to embody the laid-back, beach attitude of California and the Hawaiian islands, but that doesn't mean that the tables aren't hot. Of the 781 rooms, there are 74 suites for high rollers. And the Redwood Bar & Grill adds a bit of sophistication with its wood paneling, stone fireplaces and country English furnishings. The exhibition kitchen that dominates the 110-seat Pasta Pirate turns out Italian and seafood specialties.
Hawaiian-style hospitality in downtown Vegas
by mingchat
Downtown Las Vegas isn't where you'd expect to experience a taste of the Islands, but the California Hotel is many Hawaiians' home away from home. Favorable odds on table games and slots, friendly, down-home service and reasonable prices keep island residents coming back year after year. The rooms aren't top-of-the-line, but they're comfy, clean and very reasonably priced. The coffee shop serves standard fare with lots of Hawaiian-kine favorites like saimin noodles, portugese sausage omelets and spam on the menu too. Check out the snack shop on the 2nd floor for an authentic plate lunch.
- Pros: Friendly dealers, Cheap, clean rooms, Hawaiian hospitality
- Cons: Slightly dingy, Not very glamorous
