disappointing.
I was honestly surprised after reading the reviews on this site to find my meal rather... disappointing.
We ordered two different dishes, one chicken with penne and assagio cheese, and one order of their penne with Italian sausage. Both dishes came with undercooked meat, the chicken was underdone, and came in an alcohol based sauce that had not been allowed to cook thoroughly. Instead of a gelled dish that had very little liquid it was a large amount of pasta on top of a pool of liquor. The sausage dish was also undercooked, and although the menu described it as "Italian sausage", my mother was unable to eat the dish because the sausage was much too spicy for her tastes.
Along with this we were offered a "house" salad, which my mother opted for or a "steak and bean soup". I ordered the soup and it came luke warm, where as my mothers salad was actually more of a Greek salad (spinach greens served with feta cheese and a tapinade {mixture of sliced pickled vegetables} of olives.) If my mother had been aware that it was a "Greek Salad" she would not have ordered it since she has never really liked feta cheese.
All in all it was a rather disappointing experience, especially since we were not served for several minutes and our server seemed adamant on adding a fifth setting to our table... even though there were only three of us.
*edit* also in response to the "in response" person who posted about how "Le Bistro" does not serve Veal... it was the special of the night on August 4th in 2011...
Best Italian meals I've ever had.. Every dish I've ever had has been exquisite. The setting is cozy and the staff friendly and efficient.
To " stay away at any cost ". The Bistro Cafe does not and has not ever served any type of veal dish. you apparently have the wrong restaurant.
Delicious!. Le Bistro is a great place to dine, the staff is wonderful and the food is excellent! We dine there often and have never had anything but good food and great service.
A hidden gem with stellar Italian food in the Nevada desert..
In Short
The cozy cafe only has about 10 tables and a small counter. The menu of Italian specialties features several seafood entrees. Popular entrees include chicken Marsala; scallops with sauteed onions, mushrooms and artichokes over rigatoni; filet mignon medallions with portobello mushrooms and linguini with sauteed shrimp. If there's one dessert most patrons find hard to pass, it's the extra creamy tiramisu.
Stay away at all cost!!.
I made the mistake of ordering the veal Piccata. When I ate some of the veal I knew there was something wrong with it. I'm not sure what it was but I couldn't eat and I'm an Italian American from New York City. I know what Italian food is supposed to taste like. I actually tried 2 more bites but it so bad that I asked for the check. The waitress asked me if I wanted to take the food to go and I replied no I could'nt eat it. She took it back to the cook and then came out and said no charge. Although I'm glad I did'nt have to pay I think they should've offereed me something else on the menu on the house being they waisted my time and my pallet.
If you decide to ignore my warning I highly recomend not ordering the veal piccata.
The aroma alone will get you. What a find! Walking in this little bistro will reminded me of my Grandmother's kitchen....garlic and gravies simmering..mmmm. This cozy place welcomed us in as well as the staff, who made us feel as we were old friends. The steaks, chicken, soups, salads, and warm bread all fabulous and deserving of many returns. You will not go wrong here.
