Great Experience. Great experience! The associates were friendly & knowledgeable. They gave us a very fair price for our old laptop. Overall, we walked away very happy with our experience.
Try Computer Renaissance Instead.
I brought my laptop into Laptop Xchange on the morning of 5/16/2011. The time that I was quoted for the job to be complete was 4 to 5 days, not the 4 to 6 days that is in your records. The price that I was quoted was $120 and I was told that would fix it.
Virtually every telephone call that was made for follow up had to be made by me. No one except Danny ever called to follow up.
My computer was not fixed properly until the afternoon of 5/25/2011 (more than double the quoted time). It was originally returned back to me not properly completed so I had to make 2 additional trips to your store to get the job finished. Not having my computer with Microsoft Works on it on the date that I was assured impeded me from seeing my calendar data which caused a no-call/no-show at my work which cost me about $200 for the shift, an attendance point and almost the loss of my job.
Even though the original amount that I was quoted was $120, I was later told that I was stuck with the ultimatum of paying to get my computer back still broken for $120 or get it back fixed for over $200 because it was later determined that it needed a hard drive. $206.47 was paid for the work.
I had two telephone conversations with Steve Waite about the situation. I didn
TERRIBLE TERRIBLE SERVICE.
To start....over the last 4 years I have bought 3 laptops from this company.
I took my laptop, which I believed had a corrupt windows and was confirmed by Best Buy.
Best Buy wanted 7-10 days. I went over to Laptop Xchange, spoke to Joe and he said 3-5 days. I agreed. This is now Tuesday 2/15/11.
7 DAYS LATER (Monday 2/21/11)" I HAD TO CALL THEM" and spoke to Joe he stated that it was detected YESTERDAY (on day 6) that the windows is corrupt and they need my permission to proceed and back up my data and then restore. I complain that no bothered to call me yesterday. Then said yes do it.
Joe tells me should be done tonight but if not, by tomorrow. I call now on DAY 8 (Tuesday 2/22/11) at 1:30p, and the person that answered (didn't get name) said Joe was out to lunch and the tech is out of the building. Someone will call you later on and tell you what parts are needed. I yell WHAT PARTS, what did you guys do. He claims, he doesn't know and someone will call me. at 2:40pm ...Tyler answers and tries to start talking me in circles about how they have to back up my hard drive, reinstall and then reload my data..that he can't guarantee but should be ready tomorrow ( DAY 9).
Best Buy is looking better everyday we go on.
I ask Tyler who is the tech, he says he can't give me his name...I said well you better. I said, he is touching my laptop with my data on it, I have the right to know his name. First he says...George, then Joe, then he is the tech...then he says I can't tell you....now I proceed to tell him they are doing something shady there and I am going to call the BBB. He then puts his store manager on...Steve. He tells me the tech is Jim and tonight Dan will be working on it. I can pick it up tonight, it will be done.
What happened to MAYBE tomorrow?
Well after my uneasy feeling after I had to call Joe
on DAY 6. I decided to start recording my conversations with them on a beepless record.
When I told Tyler he was playing games with me and I would research who the store owner was and that he was being recorded, he freaked out and got his manager on the phone.
Left does not know what right is doing there. They are eager to bad mouth Best Buy (who is not my favorite either) but if you are gonna bad mouth, then prove yourself and live to your word.
Will I ever buy a laptop there again, probably, not sure.
Will I let them do service for me again....NEVER!
JUST AN FYI....this circus act is costing me $150.00
We will probably go 40 rounds when I get there because they will probably try to charge sales tax on service.
Awesome Service!!!. Look I am not a computer person at all. I took my laptop in and the customer service that I recieve was top notch. My laptop had a busted LCD and DC jack (Kids). Anyways they explained that it would take 3-5 days (depending if they had the part in) and they could fix it. On day 3 I got a call and was told, all was well and quoted me my repair price. They told me it would be ready for pick up in a day or so. Got the laptop everything was repaired and working great and I also picked up a low end laptop for my kid so he won't break my newly repaired laptop. Thanks guys!!!
DO NOT bring your computer here..
I brought my laptop in because there was a problem with my screen. The technician who worked on it was Chris. I was told 3 days later that the problem was my "suspend switch" and that the part wasn't being made anymore but it could be disconnected and would work fine. The cost for this service was to be the $60 diagnostic fee since nothing was being replaced and it was an easy fix. I go in to pick my computer up and when the kid at the counter took my computer out of the box it was in he opened it, the lights came on as if it were ON, he mumbled something about, "oh, it's not supposed to be on..." then promptly hit the power button to turn it off (before anything even loaded on the screen) and that was it. I didn't know at the time that their policy is to turn the computer on in front of you to show you that it works before you leave with it...of which was NOT done when I picked it up.
The next day I turn my laptop on and it says something about a disc missing...there's no disc in the drive to load so I turned it off and then back on...then windows wouldn't load...AT ALL. So I call them back and they tell me to bring it back in. Next day I bring it back in and leave it with them...another 3 days later I get a phone call from Chris saying that my operating system is corrupted and for $90 more (on top of the $60 I already paid) he can re-boot my operating system and retrieve my files. I asked him if he started windows before it was released to me the last time it had been in and at first he said yes but then admitted that he hadn't but that it should have been started in front of me before I left with it...and it wasn't. He tells me that something I did must have corrupted it and adds that pretty much anything can corrupt the operating system...even just moving it can do it.
What really happened was that when he was in there screwing around with my "suspend switch" he corrupted the operating system...then when I picked it up it was PURPOSELY not started in front of me because it wouldn't have worked and I was then blamed for their mistake. He gives me a "deal" and decides to re-boot the operating system and retrieve my files for $60 more instead of $90 more and 3 days later I pick up my laptop AGAIN. My operating system works and my photos and documents are there...but all of my programs are GONE. Including my $700+ Quickbooks. Somehow he managed to save all the shortcuts to all of my programs but NONE OF MY PROGRAMS REMAIN. So because he screwed up I have to shell out the cost of replacing all of my programs. Thanks for nothing.
Oh, and during the period of time that my laptop was originally being "repaired" my husband and I bought another laptop from them ($320) and an external CD-DVD drive ($70). Needless to say I will never bring anything into this business again...EVER.
