Great Food, Good Service. First we were served some warm, delicious sourdough bread. There was a separate server who served us drinks and kept them filled the whole evening. The split pea soup was great. My husband had the prime rib, and it was very tender. I had the maple seared salmon, which was also tender, cooked just right. It was on a sweet potato pancake topped with a bed of corn. Very interesting and tasty. No complaints. We had to wait a while to be seated, so you need to make a reservation.
New menu disappoints.
05/11 The menu has undergone a dramatic change, not for the better IMHO, since our last visit this past March. We each ordered the salmon Wellington with spinach in puff pastry and the house salad with blue cheese dressing. Our meals included a choice of starch with Ann ordering mashed potatoes that had to come out of a box and me ordering an overdone baker.
03/11 Since we hadn’t had prime rib in ages, we each decided to order the South Point cut (12-ounces) done medium rare with me opting for blackened Cajun style. Our dinners included a house salad tossed tableside, a bread basket and a choice of potato (mashed for me, baker for my wife) or rice pilaf. Everything was good, but we'll probably order a fish dish on our next visit.
12/10 We decided to stay on the property for dinner, so after enjoying our drinks we went upstairs to the Primarily Prime Rib. Ann started with a mundane house salad with blue cheese dressing prepared tableside while I opted for the split pea soup which was thick and delicious. For an entrée, she chose maple glazed salmon, a large filet served over a sweet potato pancake with corn relish. My sautéed sea bass, 2 large filets over stir fried vegetables in a light teriyaki sauce with a side of rice pilaf was very good though the latter was blah
12/08 After reviewing the menu, we each settled on the South Point cut of prime rib. All dinners include warm artisan bread and a choice of either salad or split pea soup. The blue cheese dressing on our salads was bland and most likely from a bottle and our baked potato was at least an hour past done. The prime rib was served medium rare and was accompanied by side dishes of a sour cream based dressing and fresh horseradish. The meat was tough and was in weak in flavor. Given the many favorable reviews, we were disappointed by the quality of our entire meal. The one positive was the South Point was running a ? point special on all food.
Worse Service Ever!. I went to Primarily Prime Rib on 3.26.08. The service that day was terrific. Grant it the decor looks like something out of the 70's but the food and the service was wonderful. My SO and I decided to go there on Sunday night for his brother's birthday and what a big mistake that was! The waitress could not understand what we were saying. We had tried asking her how the daquries were and all she said in response was "yes". We just laughed it off. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dish as an appetizer and never got it. She told us that she forgot that we ordered it. What? ok, we let that slide as well. I ordered a watermelon martini. The first one that I got was good, the second, i think they gave me a lemon martini and then the third a regular martini. All of them I was told was supposed to be a watermelon martini. My SO and his brother ordered draft beer but got bottles. They ordered chilled patron shots and got them warm, BOTH times. By the end of the dinner we were fed up. We asked to see a manager. Can you believe that it took him a good 15 to 20 minutes to talk to me when he was actually sitting 10 feet away from us in a booth! When he did come to talk to me I explained our grievances and he said that he would comp the meal and drinks. 5 minutes later he shows up with a bill. Ok, we paid just to get the hell out of there but we were highly disappointed. The worse part about it was as we were walking out of the restaurant the manager was talking to some of the other servers laughing about us! WHAT nerve! I remember asking for his card and he ended up writing just his first name on our receipt! YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! I had to ask him to also include his last name and a contact number! HIGHLY DISAPPOINTING especially since we had such a nice time a few days before! I would call before to see if that manager is working before I step foot in that place again!
