This Portland girl felt very at home in this hip but quaint downtown dive bar. Can't beat the fireplaces and jukebox, plus it's got a nice mellow vibe that's refreshing after elbowing your way through the Fremont Street melee.
Hipster Hang in Downtown Vegas. I'm from LA's East-Side, so I'm very familiar with Atwater Village's version of The Griffin... and it pleases me to say that visiting the Downtown Vegas version was like coming home. The place has a similar Scottish castle vibe to the LA version, complete with the fire-pits that make the bar so intimate. A great jukebox is filled with indie rock hits, so if you're wondering where the wayward hipsters are hanging out in Vegas, The Griffin is the place.
Local Bar. We stumbled into the griffin while walking on freemont street. What a cool spot. We didn't actually have a drink, but it seemed like a bar I would like to hang out in. they have a fire pit inside to warm you up and lots of seating. If you are in downtown and tired of the casino bars this is a good alternative.
Swanky downtown lounge attracts hipsters searching for a low-key night on the town..
In Short
The Griffin has the feeling of being inside a wine barrel. Well, at least that's what we imagine. It's dark and dungeon-like with weathered arched wood and exposed brick work. Two fireplaces provide some of the warmth and lighting and its here where groups gather to chat and down their drinks. There is an old Vegas, Rat Pack vibe that makes this a must-stop on a downtown pub crawl. A wide-ranging jukebox provides the evening's soundtrack.
