Great place to eat. Not too formal for lunch, just right for dinner. Prices are good too.
Love this place. The new location on Durango is beautiful! You will probably be served by the owner, his mom or their son. Wonderful food and atmosphere. Best Greek restaurant in town!
Affordable Greek food. This is a relatively new casual Greek restaurant that has prospered during these difficult times by providing very good food at reasonable prices. My wife ordered the spanakopita while I chose the pomegranate chicken. Entrees include pita bread, salad and Greek rice. This version of spankopita was denser than we are accustomed to, but very good nonetheless. I have only had pomegranate chicken once before at Paymon’s and this version infinitely superior. I had a coupon printed off the restaurant’s website good for 2 free glasses of wine that the manager accepted along with a discounted gift certificate purchased at Best Restaurant Guide. We closed out the meal by sharing a piece of the restaurant’s award winning Aphrodite cheesecake with a baklava crust.
Forget the Summerlin Location. Tried the new Summerlin location. Grape leaves (meat) were stringy and tough with almost no filling. Hummus had so much garlic it burned going down and didn't have good texture. Tried a lamb souvlaki gyros with yogurt sauce. Ordered extra sauce. Lamb was tough and gamey and the sauce had large pieces of fresh garlic mixed with cucumber so you couldn't tell them apart. If you like chewing on raw garlic, this is your dish. Huge disappointment. Won't be back.
Greek cafe serves homemade Mediterranean dishes including gyros, pomegranate chicken, spanakopita and more..
This delightful little spot has the look of a bright Mediterranean bistro. The restaurant, though set up cafeteria style, has draped cloth hanging from the ceiling for an intimate and authentic feel. The menu consists heavily on Greek dishes such as spanakopita (spinach, feta and romano cheese in a filo pastry), pastitsio (a macaroni pie with beef and tomato) and mousaka (a grounded beef, eggplant and potato casserole). One of the house specialties is the pomegranate chicken, served over fluffy basmati rice with a pomegrante glaze and crunchy walnuts . They also serve gyros, wraps and grilled or marinated skewers.
Good food, but hummus a disapointment. For an area that's starving for good restaurants we were so excited to see this open. We eat Mediterranean often so know a good hummus. It's a great fast food or sandwich shop alternative and good for kids, but the hummus is pretty bad. We try it every other time hoping for a good batch, but it hasn't happened yet. We've been more times than I can count and each time the hummus has too much garlic, not the right consistency and is missing something. The pomegranate chicken is by far my favorite. Most of the other dishes are good, but certainly not the best I've had.
BEST MEDITERRANEAN FOOD IN LAS VEGAS.
Market Grille Cafe' is the best Mediterranean food we have ever had, if you have not been there you are missing Las Vegas's best kept secret. They are located in the Centennial Shopping Center off Ann and 95 in the Sams Club lot.
For starters I have had (including, but not limited to) Hummus which is a creamy blend of chick peas garlic, seasonings and seasme tahini, my husbands favorite, Babaganoush, which is a mixture of eggplant ,tahini, garlic and seasonings. (We even call the owner, Joe, Babaganoush). My husband loves the Avgolemono Soup, otherwise known as a creamy chicken, lemon and rice soup....YUMMY.
Did I mention that all the items on the menu are homemade daily? My mouth is watering as I write this! One of my favorites is the Pomegranate Chicken from the Greek Favorites, it is a skewered chicken glazed with a homemade pomegranate sauce. Of course the Pomegranate Chicken salad is just as wonderful, it is over a bed of spinach salad, oh so good. The wraps are out of this world, Joe has many choices, such as a Filet, Chicken, Beef and Lamb Combo, Fish, and for the ones the want no meat, the Veggie Wrap. They are wrapped in a Lavosh bread with herbed rice, chopped lettuce and red cabbage, cucks, feta cheese, tomatoes and red onions, with your choice of homemade hummus or yogurt dill sauce, both sauces are wonderful! You like Gyros? Once again...choices of Chicken, Beef and Lamb Combo, Feta and Veggie, or the Falafel, stuffed in a pita pocket bread with, lettuce, tomato, feta cheese, cucks and red onions with your choice of toppings.
You also need to try the Papous' Pasta, this is a tomato sauce with tuna and seasoning, served over pasta. Ask Joe, Rose (Joes Mother) or his wife Rhonda how they came up with the name for this dish, quite an interesting story.
The Spanakopita is a Filo pastry filled with feta and spinach that is to die for.. you must save room for dessert, my FAVORITE is the BAKLAVA CHEESECAKE, a homemade cheesecake with a baklave crust...
