DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! – I wish I would have known about city search a few years back so I could warn all locals daring to eat here. Im usually not the kind of person to try new restaurants but I thought I would live outside the box and try something new....huge mistake. I had ordered the chicken enchiladas and thanks to that I ended up at st rose hospital in the emergency room with morphin pumped into me for 6 1/2 hrs because I was in so much stomach pain! From the moment I walked out the front door I instantly felt sick. I had the most intense stomach pain I have ever felt, I couldnt even stand straight. From 9:00 pm to 6:00 am I never stopped throwing up. I thought I was going to die. My husband rushed me to the hospital where they had a very hard time trying to find a vein to hook the i.v to me because I was drained of everything. After a few tries they were sucessful so they took blood to run tests, after a while the tests came back with salmonella poisoning. It took almost 2 months to feel back to my normal self and a week after my incident I was also sent a $6500 medical bill.....all thanks to agave! So thank you agave for sending me to the hospital, leaving me sick for 2 months and a very hefty medical bill. GO F*** YOURSELF
Agave in Summerlin – The atmosphere is great. Beautiful lighting and a great patio. The staff is friendly and spot on in service. They did a great job. They food is very good and really hit the spot. The price for what we got was very very low and a great deal for the portions we had. I have to recommend the Pork Chop for the meat eaters, my friend is a vegetarian and Agave had a number of items to meet her dietary needs. The chefs really bent over backwards to accommodate all of our wants and needs. Come here for the ambiance, but keep coming back for the food and the service by both the kitchen and the service staff.
There is nothing better than going to a restaurant that understands service, you will feel at home as they take care of you and show you what HOSPITALITY means . . . . They are truly there for the guest. Things that you will like at Agave = Patio, Music, Food, Service, Ambiance, Friendliness, Relaxation, Enjoyment . . . . Just an all around great night of fun, food, service and most importantly of all the drinks.
OVER PRICED OVER RATED – Ate there last night and when I got home I started thinking about what I paid. I looked at my receipt and I realized we ordered two main courses, soup, side of rice, guac, small and I do mean small side of cheese, and 1 margarita. The meal came to 63$. Serving portion of sides were quite small, the service was mediocre, and 1 item orders was not served in the manner it stated on the menu. Waited more then we should have to have our order taken. The place was practically empty and quite hot.
Disappointed – I have always want to try Agave. It was my Birthday and said "Let's give it a try". It is beautiful on the outside, but we were seated on the main floor, right next to the bar, with T.V.'s and all. I noticed how warm it was, as they had opened the outside doors, and it got warmer by the minute. (This was late August). Hubby ordered the Carnitas. He said it was like a limp over-boiled roast. (He likes it a bit crispy.) I got the crab stacked tostada thing. It was ok. We each got margaritas, and they were good. I felt rushed to leave with the heat and there was no acknowledgement of my birthday, which was odd. Overall, the food is too gourmet. I like rustic mexican food. The price was very expensive for the portions of food. We are not cheapos either. It was very disappointing. Will not be going back.
Very unfriendly – Food okay but rushed to order rushed to eat ,will not go back.
Refreshing to finally find great Mexican food – I visted this restaurant on a recent trip to Las Vegas while staying with some friends. As a self described "know it all" on great Mexican food, Agave is one of my all time favorites. First, the margaritas are amazing. You can tell by the level of various tequilas they offer and knowledge of the staff that this place knows how to make a perfect margarita. I strongly recommend the mango margarita, which was perfect in the Vegas heat. The food was described to me as contemporary Mexican and was well thought out. I loved the rock shrimp tacos and my entire party had nothing but good things to say about their dishes. There was also a great live Latin rock band that apparently plays every Saturday night. Great live music and they rocked. Overall, Agave will be my new place to go to in Las Vegas!!!
Good, but expensive – 12/10 We started off with complimentary blue and corn tortilla chips plus a pair of tasty salsas and a mediocre bean dip. Our entrees were shrimp and crab stacked enchiladas - Dungeness crab with Mexican white shrimp, sweet corn-guajillo chile enchilada sauce and micro-greens. The enchiladas were very good.
12/07 Update - We first dined at this gorgeous Mexican restaurant on our September trip. Warm blue and white corn tortilla chips were served with a pair of salsas and a warm bean dip. Ms. Westie ordered the blue corn chicken enchiladas and a soda. I opted for the taco sampler again, this time receiving what I ordered, namely birria (goat), rock shrimp and carnitas (pulled pork). Everything was delicious though the flavor of the birria was much stronger than on the previous visit. In order to meet the $35 minimum purchase requirement on my gift certificate we were forced to order a coffee flan. Our bill exceeded the requirement by a mere 81 cents before tax and gratuity were added.
09/07 This is an upscale Mexican restaurant in terms of both menu and decor. We were served a colorful basket of warm tortilla chips along with 3 salsas. We shared a bowl of black bean and smoked cheddar soup. I was expecting a single soup, but the bowl was artistically filled with 2 individual soups finished with a spoonful of salsa fresca and a sprinkling of cilantro. My wife ordered the shrimp and crab stacked enchiladas with sweet corn and chili sauce and micro greens. I opted for the taco sampler ? birria de chivo (marinated goat, avocado puree, cilantro and onion), carnitas with nopales salsa and tomato purcee and fresh fish with Mexican slaw and salsa fresca. The kitchen made a mistake preparing carne asada (grilled skirt steak) instead of the carnitas, not a problem since all 3 tacos were delicious. When I brought the mistake to the waiter?s attention, he offered to bring me an additional taco, but I was satiated and waived him off.
Love it! – First arriving at Agave, I was seated promptly with the large group I had. The atmosphere is amazingly lively. The food is not traditional, rather very gourmet and unique. The service was excellent despite being very packed. The waitstaff were incredibly helpful and very nice. Overall, a pretty good restaurant.
Fantastic fun food! – I love this place!! Fun Atmosphere w/ great service. You must try the tomales, they are original and very creative!! I love them, also try the flavorful mojitos and margaritas. I go back all the time. Enjoy!!
Delicious Mexican! – Great atmosphere, delicious food and awesome margaritas. Menu was interesting and food was fresh, tequila tasting is a must! Service was great. A nice spot for upscale mexican food on the west side. Agave also has a cool bar and a nice patio area. Great place to go with friends. Will return soon.
