best ethnic food in Las Vegas. Origin India is the best ethnic food in town regardless of what cuisines you are looking for. It's also, of course, the best Indian. No boring menu of traditional stuff you get at all the other places. Chef Kuldeep Singh is recently new here from London (where they know how to cook Indian food!) and does just brilliant stuff. My sister in law is from Delhi originally and we took her there and she says he does rogan josh better than anywhere she's had outside of India or UK. That is saying something. They have gotten a lot of press lately for the chef and the restaurant in general and the chef just cooked at the James Beard House in New York which is something reserved for only the best in the US. I have also tried the buffet and don't usuall like buffets but this one was ok I thought especially if you need a curry fix and only have about 25 minutes for lunch which is often the case. They have a Facebook page that I belong to and they give out discounts, deals and special offers frequently.
Best Indian Food in Vegas. We have dined at Origin India twice now and were blown away by our experience. Kind, knowledgable servers helped make suggestions on food...We have loved it all, but highly recommend the chicken makhani and the garlic shrimp. They have an amazing mixologist who created unique martinis and after-dinner drinks. Lovely ambiance, reasonable prices....BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT EVER!
Worst food in Las Vegas.
Cold, greasy onion bhaji, gritty coconut chutney, lumpy rice and cold chicken curry are only a few of the treats we encountered on the lunch buffet at Origin India on Paradise road. There was also lukewarm lentil soup and some hockey-puck appetizer. A friend of mine had suggested we check out the lunch buffet at this highly decorated Indian restaurant.
The beautifully lit dining room set with linens looked good as we entered. But things were not what they seemed. The wooden floor was covered with stains, and the legs of the chairs were very dirty. It turns out Chutneys had been around for a while. The owners of the Indian operation didn't bother to clean up the mess made by the burger and chicken-fried steak from the kids seating next to us. That was my first warning.
My second warning was the buffet line. I should have walked away from the restaurant when I saw this monstrosity. The Formica on the pillars was held in place with dirty tape. A filthy orange extension cord snaked across the floor and disappeared into the top of the steam table. The stainless-steel compartments and the food contained in them were barely warm, except for one, which was at a full boil. If you reached too far into the spinach, you could feel that food sticking to the bottom of the pan.
I can't believe I actually paid almost 20 dollars to sample this food. What was I thinking?
Mediocre food.
We were recently visiting Las Vegas. My wife and I are Indians and have a weakness for Indian food. We tried this restaurant after trying a couple of other Indian restaurants in Las Vegas. I looked through their website and seeing that the owner was from Kashmir was expecting authentic north-indian Non-veg food. We ordered Chicken Biryani (something that is usually made well in North India) , Delhi-Style chicken and some naan. We were disappointed with both the dishes. Usually in India, restaurants owned by muslims make real delicious Biryanis. It is their specialty. But their biryani tasted as if it was made by some Chennai chef (i.e. someone who has had minimal exposure to north-indian cuisine).
We specifically asked the waiter to make it Indian style (i.e. be generous in using spices) because we did not want the "americanized" Indian food.
The service was disappointing too. Twice, I requested for "raw-oninons" and "raw-green chillies" (it is a common practice among north-indians to have them with their meals) and both the times the waiter said that they were on their way and it never showed up.
On the bright side, the decor was nice and the ambiance was good too. I was pleasantly surprised to find their restroom quite clean (something that we do not find so often in a Indian restaurant).
Best Indian food in town!. My fiancé and I went to Origin India for my twenty-fifth birthday and it was definitely the best place for a romantic and unforgettable experience. I had an impeccable dining experience with exquisite and artistic presentation in an inviting and vibrant atmosphere. Origin India’s stylish modern décor offers a complete setting for any occasion. The food was delectable! They had impeccable service with innovative takes on traditional Indian cuisine. For our appetizer, we had the Grilled Canadian Rock Lobster and Shoulder of Lamb Seekh Kebab. They were both fantastic! For our entrées we had the Home Style Chicken Curry which was by far the curry I have ever had! My fiancé ordered the Moulard Duck Leg Confit and he loved it so much that he ate everything on his plate. With every course we became more impressed with the food, both in taste and presentation. I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys traditional Indian dishes.
Lousy Service. As mentioned in the February 9th review, the is good but the service is slooowww! I won't be coming back.
Third time anything but a charm. All three times the food has been quite good but the service was extremely disappointing. Not sure if the waiter was unable to handle his tables or if a table of 2 wasn't as important as a larger party; whatever the problem it was almost comically repeated each time. It seemed to take forever to get refills or anything else compared to the larger table which on one night got three rounds of beers before we were able to get our drinks. The main course came out before the appetizer and they even tried to clean and reset our table while we were sitting there waiting 20 minutes for the waiter to bring the bill. And last but not least the waiter had the nerve to ask for my 17 year old daughter's myspace page right in front of me!!! Not something that is quite appropriate to do in front of a Father especially when the girl is under 18.
origin india.
Decor is great ,waitress didnt know what Makhani was its sad that she didnt know the menu every time i asked for a entree she didnt know what i was talking

i had a bad experience
Awesome Indian Cuisine. This fantastic Indian restaurant just gets everything right. Great, unique concept of putting salad, entree, rice and vegetables all on one big plate, making tasting and sharing easy and fun. Top-notch ingredients, beautiful presentation, fresh, hot, wonderful. Service is impeccable. Restaurant is gorgeous, no expense spared. Atmosphere is warm and comfortable. Price may be a little high, considering all the options in Las Vegas. But you will be full, happy, satisfied, and most likely, you will be writing a five-star review like I am and telling your friends all about it. Highly recommended.
