Breakfast YES - Dinner YES. Great dinner experience!! I've been to Hash House many times for Breakfast and loved it but this time I tried it for dinner and wasn't disapointed. Same good value portions, great presentations and the food was very flavorful. I agree that it wasn't too spicy but I like to be able to add my own and with a little help it was great. My biggest treat was the wine list - not an ordinary list - and priced very fairly. Service was casual but friendly and my server was very knowledgeable about the menu. I will definitely bring my out of town guests to this place.
Hash House A NO NO ( really it's that bad).
WOW!!!! What a disappointment
I recently went for my brothers birthday, and was looking forward to a great experience.
I really wish I would have looked at city search prior to going. Now I'm not one for complaining and when it comes to pasta and chicken it seems like it would be impossible to screw that up, wrong!! Like a previous poster I also ordered the sage chicken and penne pasta, it was absolutely tasteless and bland, I also had to salt the heck out of it, and even then it wasn't much better. On the drive home I was discussing the meal with my parents, suggesting that maybe I just happened to pick the wrong thing, but my parents had also stated that they didn't want to hurt my brothers feelings since he picked the place to eat and just kept quiet, but their meals were awful as well. All in all, my family payed a lot of money for a whole lot of nothing!!
Awesome Breakfasts!. I've been to the Hash House A Go Go a few times now and have sampled different items on their breakfast menu. I'll agree that a few of their dishes fall short of being great but there are some that are just amazing. First of all, believe the hype - the portions are MASSIVE. You may want to consider plunking down the extra $2.50 to share a dish if you don't want a lot of leftovers. But if you're up for the challenge, here are some things to start your day. The Banana and Brown Sugar pancakes are really good. The pancake is the size of a medium pizza and it's quite tasty with a side of bacon. You really can't go wrong with the scrambles. I personally like the salmon scramble. The hashes are surprisingly nothing spectacular. Outside of being served in a skillet, they're just decent. The dish that my friends and I come back for are either the sage fried chicken benedict or my new favorite, the pork tenderloin benedict. I would recommend getting there before 9:30 am on a weekend or else you might have to wait a bit to get seated. And like any restaurant, once it gets busy, the service can get slow.
GREAT PLACE FOR BREAKFAST. I'M FROM NY AND EVERYTIME I'M IN VEGAS, THIS PLACE IS FIRST ON MY LIST TO GO EAT. THE PORTIONS ARE OFF THE METER. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.
such a let down. I have been wanting to get to Hash House for about a year now. I finally took my boyfriend there for a celebration dinner. We opted to sit on the patio and were the only ones since it's june and we are in vegas, but it was night, so it wasn't bad. My boyfriend had the chicken and biscuits and I had the fried sage chicken w/penne pasta. My boyfriend liked his ok, or at least didn't have any complaints. Mine was ok, a bit lacking when it came to seasoning, I had to add loads of salt. We finished with the bread pudding which my boyfriend loves, but it wasn't quite what he was expecting. It was more like a large cake brownie w/ice cream on top. It was good. We had tons of left overs but I was left filling a bit queasy afterwards and even a day later. The service was good when it was available. There weren't many people inside the restaurant, and I think because we were the only ones outside, that we were forgotten about. It took us 2 hours to get in and out and we maybe spent a total of 30 minutes eating. I'm glad I tried something different, but I won't go back, mostly because of this nauseaus feeling that hasn't gone away since then.
Great portion size!. I love this restaurant! Great food, interesting flavor combos. The meatloaf sandwich is ridiculous! Very tasty, but at least eight inches high! Had to eat it with a fork instead of like a sandwich. The pancakes are fantastic, so I think breakfast is my favorite. Love to bring out-of-towners here to freak them out with the portion size.
Torn on this one... We had lousy service (although friendly) but great food. The portions are HUGE. We were very happy with the food however we seem to have been forgotten even though there were several other guests on the patio with us. Did not get refills on our drinks since he never came around, food took a LONG time to get to us and I could tell mine had been sitting for a while since my honey mustard that decorated the plate had turned dark and hardened a bit. My drink was supposed to have alcohol in it but I couldn' t taste any so I think I paid $8 for blueberry lemonade. Would love to go back because the food is good but it will probably be some time due to the slow service.
Way too much food, not enough flavor. I was really disappointed when we went to Hash House A Go Go for dinner this past weekend. After reading good reviews of the place and looking at the menu, I was really forward to farm food with a twist. The concept of the restaurant is great and all of the menu items sound delicious on paper, but the restaurant really fell through in execution. Though the food is creatively presented, almost everything I tasted was extremely bland. I ordered a salad that was supposed to come with sage fried chicken, but there was no sage or any other seasoning on the chicken. It didn't even taste like it had any salt. Because there portions are so huge, I was able to try a lot of other items on the table. Sadly, the stuffed burgers also lacked flavor, and since they use two thin patties instead of one thicker one, they were dry and overcooked. If you order a burger, ask for 1 big burger with the toppings on top, because the stuffed concept doesn't really work. The deconstructed potpie was the best entree I tasted, and I loved the hat shaped crust but it wasn't enough to make up for the other bland entrees. All of there portions are gigantic - making Cheesecake Factory portions look miniscule, yet they charge you to share!! The only menu item I really enjoyed was the fried green tomato appetizer, which stood out as the one flavorful thing on the menu. This place needs to cut down on the size of their dishes and work on their flavor. Maybe then they wouldn't have to give you a 14" wide bowl of salad to make up for the blandness.
Worth the drive for breakfast. I'm surprised I haven't read more about this place. We had a rental car in October so we sought it out - boy is it worth it. Come with an appetite, as the portions were huge! We were going to split something when we saw giant plates go by, but the menu has so much on it - --- well, we couldn't decide. So I had biscuits and gravy - I've never seen so much meat in gravy - They'd accent plates with fruit and a sprig of rosemary which smelled heavenly. It's a local favorite so there's a little wait for tables - Check it out!
funky combinations miss the mark!!. i will give them credit , the servings are HUGE, the quality of they food very very good BUT the chef is a little out there with his flavor combinatons that really dont work, meatloaf with eggs over easy smothered in a heavy soy/terriaki sauce? it just taste bad together it ruined the eggs!! and the meatloaf. mashed potatos with maple ? i just dont get it. i guess if you tell them to keep it simple stupid! eggs bacon homefries pancakes, a burger, you could get a great meal and a great bargain! some times being creative is not a good thing!
